7AT - cooler line cut in location?

I changed my transmission fluid at 120k and was shocked at how bad the fluid looked. I last had it changed at 80k at the Infiniti dealer.

I want to add in a transmission cooler. Where is everybody picking for a location to tie in the lines? I poked around a little and could not clearly see the lines.

Doesn't the radiator have the trans "cooler" built-in?

External cooler is extremely more efficient. On my Grand Prix trans temps dropped 40 degrees or more with the addition of an external cooler. The fluid is still running through the factory radiator cooler too. If it were run separate of the rad then temps would be even lower.

One of the reasons the fluid goes through the radiator is faster warm-up of the trans. The radiator should keep the trans fluid near 180ºF or whatever temp the thermostat opens. I would like to see actual temps in and out of the transmission.

And thats part of the reason I ran the external cooler in series. There was several occasions I saw 230 degrees on trans fluid temp. The highest I have seen since installing the cooler is around 194.

My plan is to run in series as well. When I lived in cold country, I would run the external before the radiotor so the transmission would not run to cold.

After seeing just how black and nasty the fluid was, I am going to run it after the radiator. I spend much more time in 110 plus rush hour traffic than I do in anything resembling cold weather.

I found the spot to hook into as well by looking at the instructions for the stilled kit. They are high in the engine bay and cannot be accessed from below.
