shot a rod through the block =(
Not entirely sure what happened I check my dipstick regularly and add oil if needed, oil changes every 4500 miles with synthetic, couple of high revs every now and then and BOOM rod through the bottom of the block
I'm curious as to what my options are I've come up with 4 possible solutions. My G is an 08 6mt with only 34k on it.
First option beg the dealer and hope that they want to be generous and repair under warranty! Unfortunately my G is out of warranty by about a year however I am 26k miles below the mileage limit I know it's a long shot but it's worth a shot.
Second option replace the whole engine with new from infiniti. So far from what I see the whole engine is about 7400 new and then price of install on top of that
Third option buying a used engine. I've been seeing engines with around 50k going in the 3500k range and then price of install...however putting in a motor with higher mileage than my car has isn't that appealing.
4th option rebuilding the lower end. I've been doing some research on short blocks and found a few stage 1 short block kits for around 3k plus the price of install however It would probobly be a good idea at that point to have the shop teardown the engine and make sure there is no damage to the cylinder walls. Pro would be that with a rebuild I know the mileage and condition. Con would be that it could cost more than just putting in a used one and the cylinder walls could be damaged anyway.
I want some opinions obviously I'm gonna try and see if I can get one of the local dealers to cover it (fingers crossed) but being that I am out of warranty I want to have a backup plan option 4 is kind of what I'm leaning towards but Idk how likely it is that the cylinder walls are damaged or not =/

Damn. As far as hoping to get warranty service out of warrant, I wouldn't count on that one. An 08 has been out of warranty for some time. If you tear into the engine, check the infamous rear timing gaskets to see if they're intact. If not, then at least you'll know what caused your issue. If they are blown out you know that your engine has been operating without proper lubrication and it would be best to get another one, preferably from a 2010+ model that doesn't suffer from this manufacturing defect.
Good luck.

I'm not sure what you mean by smaller ECU. Please elaborate.
A good used low mileage engine is likely your best option for the least cost IMO. Your cost sounds high for that mileage. Here's a couple from '11 370Z with much lower miles that what you're talking about.

Stock engine no forced induction has intake & exhaust, strictly used 93 octane only, no aftermarket tune, there was a drop in temp. Here in NY but nothing that dramatic. This car isn't even my daily car it's a weekend/summer car averaged only about 5k miles a year
Oh man, sorry to hear that. What oil did you use? It sounds like it *would* be covered under warranty if the warranty was still valid. If it were me, I'd just throw a cheap engine in there, sell it, and get something else.
Yea I'm gonna see what infiniti says I used to work at a nissan dealer and they liked to do warranty work on cars slightly out of warranty so they would still get paid for the job. But unfortunately I still owe money on the car about 15.5k between putting the money into fixing it and then trying to sell I won't make back what i even owe on the car at that point who knows maybe I'll get lucky and Infiniti will be in a good mood when I go down there. If not I was thinking about supercharging it maybe getting the built long block from importpartspro for added safety
