6MT Drivers! Need your feedback please...
I asked this in a prior thread i started but it was sort of off topic...i figured it would be best to start a new thread...sorry.
I have a 2009 MT coupe.
Using your shifter stick, could you tell me if your 5th (and 6th) gears are all the way to the right (up against the shift plate gate)? Or is it before hitting this "wall"?
For me, there is some dead space (about an inch) between where my 5th gear engages smoothly and the end of the shifter plate.

For me all the way to the right. There is a door the shifter pushes through for 5th and 6th. I'm sure there's a more technical name for it.
Sometimes it will slide halfway into gear, then it takes a little more push to get it all the way to the front (for 1st, 3rd, and 5th) or all the way to the back for (2nd, 4th, 6th). More common for 1st and 2nd then the rest of the gears.

Hmm that's worrisome. How about 1st? Right up against the side too?
If you guys tell me 'no' then perhaps it's just my shifter plate that needs adjustment.
But I'm not feeling too good about this.

Then I'm at a loss as to what's up.
I wonder if a bad synchro would have the kind of symptom I'm experiencing.
I don't have any grinding whatsoever and this 'symptom' has been present for as long as I can remember. Like I said, if I back off the 'wall' bout an inch, I get the gate no problem. It doesn't really bother me but sone one was driving my car and suggested it was not normal so now it's stressing me out!

What good is the guide if you have to position the shifts elsewhere?
I'd say either this guide is not correctly adjusted, or there's some issue with the shift forks in the trans.

Yep, 5th is all the way to the right and up.
6th is all the way to the right and down.
Sometimes, depending on my RPMs, it's a little harder to get into 6th gear.
I wish our/my shifting was smoother on theses vehicles.

My shifting is buttery smooth. I was going forward and reverse multiple times to get out of a tight spot and my friend was like wtf I can't even tell when you're in gear.
I believe mines against the wall as well. I'll double check. Try to sit in another g37 and test their shifter to see if it's any different? Do you have any drive train warranty left?

Had a service guy there unofficially check. He rowed the gears and felt nothing was wrong. But 5/6th gear are def off the wall/guide.
1st is against wall though.
i agree. Just hoping for an exception in this case
If u look at the little shift diagram it shows 5/6 before the wall lol but I know that's just to denote reverse's extra travel to the right.
