Anyone else notice car is more responsive with traction control off?

I've been doing this past few days and the car seems a lot more responsive with it off than with it on. I have an X so rarely broke loose before to have it activate so didn't think turning it off would matter for driveability but it sure seem's like it does.

To answer your question, yes. I myself also own a X. I seem to find myself turning off my traction control often. I slap it on when it rains, but every other time I just leave it off.

Personally, I feel a difference. Granted, I have no evidence to back this, just experience.

Nothing should go wrong with the traction control being off, nor should it slip out. Only recommendation would be putting in on in heavy rain

When my last set of tires were low, I was always turning it off. Had a bit of fun.

As far as an increase in performance, I didn't notice this. Maybe just the fact of knowing the safety nanny was turned off heightened your senses.

That has become part of my start up routine... clutch/brake, start button, traction control off, drive....

I would imagine it is. With it on, the TC is limiting the power to the rear wheels, or rather, cautiously distributing the power. With TC off, its an open door. So there is nothing really stopping the power transfer

Good tip.. Perhaps it was more well known. Looking forward to testing it out later today. Even if it's only a placebo effect

From: Framingham Ma,
I wish I could answer this but I haven't driven with it "on" in over 3+ years LOL . Start car, seat belt, turn traction "Off" put in DS mod hit the down paddle to 1st and drive

If I really need to get on it I usually turn traction control off, but I like ANMVQ's method above...may be how I roll from here on out

Yeah I thought it was just me that's why I ran it couple days in a row and it definately feels more responsive to me. Especially when I'm hitting gas 1/4 - 1/2 travel I notice the difference the most. When I go back to driving with it on it seems like the car is heatsoaked.

lol yeah of course bro! turning it off allows for higher rev before the shift especially in the automatic, thus allowing you to hit higher RPMs granted the quicker acceleration, Traction control mode off = super fun mode on lol

yes with TC off more power will go to the rear wheels. Although on the g37 its a tad bit different then 370 or 350z. The traction control is not truly off. If you take an aggressive spin it will kick in to assist.

Actually turning the traction control off doesn't really turn it off completely...just leaves a little more room for fun. I noticed that snow mode is more like comfort mode too. In Canada we get the xS, I lowered mine and have the CAIs...If you put it in D and snow mode then turn snow mode off and put it on DS with the Traction off the car starts almost like a launch control....it really takes off for some reason. In snow mode the car is less jerky. They should've called it comfort mode....dummies. Good for when you have older people in the car that don't want their head's smacked back and forth.
