Hi gang. Im interested in replacing my VLSD with a Quaife LSD. I just want to see if it's worth it....is there anyone who had tried this out?

Ask this question on the370z.Com ... you'd get more of a response there.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Wavetrac. Have a look at those if you're thinking about a Quaife. The company was supposedly started by two former (employees/designers/something like that), who wanted to build a better Quaife. Basically, they profile the teeth so that they climb each other and get it to lock up even under a no-load condition, like if one tire is in the air. Also, they carry a lifetime, transferable warranty, and they are based in California, so you don't have to ship overseas for warranty work. There are relatively very few dealers compared to Quaife, but they are sold through Nissan Motorsports USA, so a reputable Nissan shop should be able to get their hands on one, possibly some dealerships. I'm pretty much sold on them, but have a look. Maybe you'll pick up on something I missed that would explain why they aren't very popular for G/Z's.

This is the contact info:

Autotech Driveline
29 Journey
Aliso Viejo, CA 92656-3333 USA
Tel: +1.949.362.8700
Fax: +1.949.362.8720

Let's try to keep this thread updated with more info as we get it. There seems to be a shortage of actual performance threads on this board compared to, "Will these wheels fit?", and "Plastidipped my ______" posts.

Nice find RadioFlyer!

I have experienced that condition when backing out of my alley at an angle. One wheel gets in the air, and zero torque is applied to the other wheel. I also have the factory VLSD. Nice to know that there is another option out there!

I've been looking into LSD myself and from what my Nissan mechanic tells me, OS Giken LSD is a much easier install than a Quaife. It's like OS Giken was made for a Nissan\Infiniti and Quaife was made for any car, one size fits all.

That's not true, about Quaife being a one size fits all diff. But it IS supposed to be a more difficult install.

OS Gilken diffs are good, but they are a clutched diff, which means it requires a lot more maintenance (frequent fluid changes), and they are typically more noisy unless you get the gear oil/friction modifier mix just right. They're also pretty expensive. BUT as far as clutched diffs go, they're one of the better ones out there as far as their reputation goes.
