Transmission swap from 7AT to 6MT possible?

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if it's possible to switch from 7AT to 6MT on a G37x?

Any thoughts?

Thank you

The x has a transfer case since its awd. There are no 6mt that have transfer cases. In short no it is not possible on an x model. Now I'm sure if you have deep enough pockets there could be some crazy custom way of doing so but it would not be cost effective what so ever.

Just swap/trade your entire G37X for a G37S 6 speed

^^ I second Telcoman. It would be easier to just trade your car in for a 6mt car. Even the hit you may or may not take in negative equity would be less than trying to make a g37x a 6mt. I could go on about pros and cons but I think you get the point.

I see, I thought the transfer case wasn't attached to the transmission
Then are there any other ways to improve the 7AT's shifting, when I put it in DS mode and floor the gas pedal it is not shifting at the best RPM range sometimes it shifts sooner sometime it shifts later, and when I try to shift manually I'm always late shifting because shifting is just so slow, half a second at least.
Any ways to improve it?

There is a reprogram update for the 7AT .... search the forum, lots of info regarding it.

Yes, it is doable. At least all the stock parts exist for it and you wouldn't have to fabricate custom hardware. That said, it may still be better to push the EASY button and swap your car for the one you want. Any time you do a major reconfiguration of a car like that, you need to consider what you're doing to its resale value. While YOU may value that swap, a potential buyer will likely be leery of how professionally it may have been done. Lots of times, it can actually diminish the value of the car, so just as with buying a salvaged title vehicle, it may only be right if you plan on driving it into the ground yourself.

I think it's pretty clear by now. Trade in your car, and get a different one before you do something like this. Unless you have $10,000 of internal engine mods that can't be easily recovered...you're better off getting rid of your existing car and trading it towards to the one you want. Even if you have a lot of bolt on mods, it's still probably better to trade it in.

possible but not worth it.

i did the swap to my integra, wasnt worth the money, time and effort.

for a car like the g37, i wouldnt do it. better off selling and picking up a 6mt.

Anything is possible... It just depends on how deep your pockets are.

R33 while having a transfer case would in my opinion still be a ton of one off custom work. That transmision was designed to be on an entirely different car and motor. In my book that falls under the ineffective cost portion and would be much easier and affordable to just trade.
