Po505

Hello I have a question my service engine light came on one night from another and i was already in the process of taking it to a mechanic for replacing a shifter lever that was bad. After the replaced shift lever was done they checked my check engine light for me and code PO505 came up Idle Air Control and they stated to me it's something with the throttle bodies. They tried to do a relearn on the system and it wouldn't let them finish with their tool and they stated to me they have to look more into it and charge me diagnostic fee. I couldn't get it due to already having to pay 900 for the shift lever replacement including labor. They stated my throttle bodies may be bad but not sure they would have to look into that? If they are they are super expensive so what should I do anyone know what can be going on?
