Head gasket leaking at 31k and couple of other questions

2010 G37S. Everything is stock and as mentioned it only has 31k on it. I had a coupon for a dealer oil change and inspection. They reported head gasket seeping, so it had apparantly just started. The power train warranty covers it which is great because otherwise its about $2500.

So I'm wondering if this could have just been a crappy gasket or does this likely indicate problems to come? The car has never overheated or had other problems. I know they should do a compression test and coolant system check. Is there anything else I should "remind" them to check?

My other issue is that my loaner is a 2013 with 29k on it. Bare bones. It feels to me like it is a more solid car and has more pickup than mine. I believe the HP/torque are the same. It also seems like it shifts differently (better) and the brakes are more responsive even though it is not an S.

Has the technology improved in the build to explain this or is it because the computer tech that is supposed to adapt to the way you drive is different because I haven't been driving it but 2 days.

Thanks for any feedback.
