GTMs GTR Intake Manifold Mod

Hello fellow members I am looking for some insight into this intake manifold conversion for the VQ37. I would like to know if its justifiable to spend 2K plus install for this mod. I know that this was in development for a while and just happened to click the link today and had a price. Does any one have any more info on this about the power it provides with and without tune.

Please post your thoughts on this and lets see if this leads somewhere. or should I dare say a group buy which is probably unlikely with GTM group buy track record.

Doubt it would be worth it, more cost effective to turbo.

Just now looking at the pictures in their link I see that the intakes would have to be changed as well to accomodate for the different positions of the throttle bodies.

IMO it's not even remotely close to being worthwhile unless you are planning to go FI.

I had started collecting the pieces for the conversion and stopped and sold it all. I think its more for uniqueness than power. Intake pipes would have to be modified to fit as well as fuel rails. It's more than just a bolt on manifold conversion.

Well I expected this response as it costs a lot of money, but I just wanted to put it out there. However the Z1 looks promising for the price. I just want to get a couple more mods out of the way before getting tuned.

LOL! There is a 44 whp increase on the Z1 manifold...

....but also a span of 25 dyno runs in between.

With a vague disclaimer about extra tuning and upgrades, etc. suggested. No allowance what else had been done.

Shifty advertising. I may be wrong?

You're not wrong Coop. People like you and me realize that the 44 HP came from intake+intake manifold mod+headers+test pipes+exhaust+tune. But slapping that dyno chart on the page with the $300 manifold mod will lead less experienced or more gullible types to presume that the intake mod alone made that kind of power. Which we know is impossible. It does however state underneath the chart what mods were on the car when dyno'd.

I like Z1 and they have always struck me as stand up guys and a stand up company but this is a little misleading to say the least and I'm not under the impression it's totally accidental.

The Z1 manifold is basically just a ported manifold, nothing super secret done to it. They advertise the gains as a package deal. Misleading? Maybe to those who just want numbers and do no research other than who has the best price.

I was going to try one on my setup but I need more fuel before I can handle more air, so it's on hold.

It's apparent that those dyno numbers come from a combination of breather mods. I am going to give this one a try to see what the gains look like before and after dyno. As for their headers they look promising but I'm not going to change out my RHFCs just yet. Maybe they should come out with an adapter or something to accommodate for the DE/HR variance so people have more options instead of the ones they offer.

When you say you need more fuel than air are you referring to changing out the injectors? If so what size would be adequate?
