Part of the issue is 7500 rpm is poorly marked. It's just a tick mark, it would be easier if the outer circle of the tach turned red instead of white. Requires a lot of attention to not bounce into the rev limiter.

"the rev limiter"
Really?
At what rev does that kick in?

I don't understand so many people preferring certain brands of oil. All oil is the same. the same refineries package the oil for many different brands. Just as there is no difference between synthetics. Perhaps they have different additives, but other than that, there is no difference.

2011 premium with every option including painted rear spoiler.

What? By that definition, all gasoline is the same. Yes the base energy is octane. No one buys one gasoline brand over another because it has more octane. They buy it because of the additives.

Can't argue with that logic. The same holds true for tires. I mean, they're all mostly rubber anyway.

And they're all round, so...

Women too. Especially in the dark.

Some have more/less additives than other

Spoken like someone who has never examined used oil analyses and compared them. The additives are what make one oil different from another and make all the difference.

What oil do you use and how often do you change it and where do you have it done?

My personal preference is Penzoil Ultra, 7.5K, DIY. OCI will change after the turbo install, not yet sure of frequency.

Sure, it might not matter if you have short oil change intervals, but it definitely matters as you wait longer between oil change intervals.

There's a reason why gas with different additive packages from different vendors cause different MPG values in the same car.

Keep a eye on the Blackstone UOA thread. Pretty soon I will be posting a UOA comparing M1 5-30 EP and Pennzoil Ultra 5-30. Same mileage, same driving conditions and the same car. I am looking forward to the results.

That's been my M.O., BB.

I don't go so far as to have my oil analyzed, but after countless hours reading and researching, that's the decision I came to as well. As a general consensus for value and quality: Penzoil Synthetic, K&N filters, 7K OCI.

I use a local independent mechanic and the oil I get is Havoline synthetic. I only drive my G for 7 months in Florida and put no more than 5 or 6000 miles a year on the car, so I change the oil once a year.
