I had my engine swap 4 years back after the old engine got Hydro-lock/water-damage due heavy rain . I have 2008 G37s So i coudnt find the same engine that time , But i found 2009 G37x coupe engine . After i bought the engine i just changed 2 things to make it same as my old engine:
1- Crankcase (the x case has two holes for all wheels drive shaft)
2- Fuel injectors ( g37x injectors holes are bigger than g37s injectors)

4 years with no unusual issues . But the only thing is oil consumption .

Thanks advan37 - Can you clarify: I mentioned in the previous post the LOWER 'crankcase' casting has the tunnel for the driveshaft. It is below the engine block.

Did you swap the ENTIRE upper engine block crankcase: including rods, crank, heads, bores, etc? Or did you swap just the lower section? This is important.

I will need to get OEM G37x injectors?

No , X engine was long block , i just swap the lower crankcase and injectors ( i removed them from my old engine and put them on X engine ) nothing else , upper section remain same .

^^^ Excellent. This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear. (Had I known this earlier I would have found one locally, however, I wouldn't have gotten such a SUPER deal from a forum meber (tech7) either!)

What this means is I'm on my way to completing this conversion. Once done there will be a very nicely running OEM G37 for sale, and a LOT of hi-performance parts.

I WILL post when I'm ready to sell, but not yet. No more PM's please!

This was worth a three hour drive. Look at the casing line BELOW the crank saddle.


That's this component from the X model. Not needed on the Coupe, and it swaps over.


We're in and getting done. ALL OEM components now (including 5AT trans), and I'm preparing performance parts to sell in a couple of weeks.

Your timing is impeccable.

Jimmy's JUST finished everything: We needed an OEM Fuel tank pod, trans lines, fuel lines, Belt tensioner, thermostat, gaskets and more.

It's almost ready. Sam @ GTM is searching to see if he has my original ROM file. we're stalled until that's burned in. (Dealership?)

Wondering out loud: I have the Osiris cable for upgrading tune. Is this transferable in any way to another? LMK if you know. I don't.

Stay posted. I am starting the cleaning and sorting and the photo process for a slew of hi-perf parts, but the weather isn't cooperating.

Coop I have a spare OEM fuel pump mount assembly and pump if you need one. Bought it from ebay but never used it, still packaged lol

Thanks Sam! I'm all set. I found an exact replacement on eBay for $100. The trans lines cost $275 from the dealer. Ouch. Everything is in.

Sam@GTM has been VERY helpful, found and sent me back the OEM ROM tune last night. They will go for the fire-up this morning. Crossed fingers.

i believe you need to return the cable to stock by retuning your car to stock then someone will be able to use your cable

ivory08: That's great news. We did just that, and if this allows my cable to be utilized elsewhere it sweetens my package for sale.

GREAT news for me: The car fired up immediately, and they've run it up and down the highway, rechecked all fluids and hoses, and it's solid. Jimmy says the engine and trans, both from unconfirmed running sources, are better than he expected. Sweeet!

He dropped it off at a local Infiniti dealer this eve, because it needed the 'steering angle sensor calibration' for alignment (?). Our local alignment/tire shop could not do this. When you drop all the front suspension for engine removal, it requires this.

Anyway, I'll pop a couple of photos to confirm tomorrow. The car looks great. As always--it's a G37!

I threw a rod and I'm now in the market for a new engine. I have a 2008 G37S (6MT). Someone offered me the engine from a 2012 Nismo 370Z for a decent price. Will this be compatible?

When I was in the market, that model would have fit in mine. I have the same model you do. So, I can't imagine there are any reasons not to purchase that one.
