Loose paddle shifter on new '13 coupe sport.
Just got my '13 xS coupe almost 2 weeks ago and noticed the '+' right shifter is loose. Not loose forward and back, but vertically up/down. Probably 1/4" combined up and down. The left one has virtually no movement in this same way.
I called the dealer and they can look at it on Saturday - but like many others I'd rather tighten something up and check it than have a tech get in there. Seems like every time you take a car in there is something that gets messed up, scratched, on and on.
I found some info about the install and see what might be loose but looks like a bit of work.
Worth going into to see what's up? Much rather do it myself even though it's under warranty!

I have this on my '09, except my left side is a bit looser. I checked out a few different G sedans and coupes with the paddle shifters after noticing this.
Seems that no two cars are the same. Some were way looser than mine and some had no play. Must be the manufacturing tolerances.
I would suggest to not get it fixed, the cure will be worse than the disease (scratched panels, misaligned steering wheel, replacement not any better etc...).
Ultimately, it will come down to how bad you think it is and if Infiniti is willing to take a crack at it. I've left mine alone and it hasn't gotten worse in almost four years.

Mine are rock solid( Installed my own over a year ago) There are pretty simple to install just remove the lower cover and check the small srcews that hold them in place. One is just probally lose.

If you plan on keeping your car, there will be plenty of time to DIY. Enjoy having a brand new car with a brand new warranty. If I were you, I'd just take it back and allow the dealer to repair.

Using a few tips I found on here I was able to get the right side column cover off without removing much else. Yay me.
The nut and screw that hold the paddle shifter on and both tight. It appears the looseness is in the actual part that the shifter connects to in the little assembly.
That pretty much takes it from anything simple I can do and a warranty replacement by the dealer of the assembly I'd say. Agree?

The problem with that is many times the tech will damage something in the process. Keeping in mind the shop manual calls for a steering wheel removal and I'd rather do it myself with warranty parts than have it pulled.
They are ordering another set, as the replacement was loose from the box, just a little worse than the original one. They have no problem with letting me swap it and I'd much prefer that. Now if the next one is loose from the box they want a area rep to see them. The G's on the lot are tight like they should be.

How hard was the install? How much time to do it? What parts where needed? (part numbers) and at what cost? Thanks John
