HELP! GTM Driveshaft Install

I'm trying to install the GTM driveshaft but it seems a little too long. I slid the front end into the transmission without a problem. Getting the rear of the driveshaft into the differential is the problem. I tried to use a floor jack to press it into place without success. It just looks too long. Does anyone know what time GTM opens? If anyone has done this install I would love to hear from you. Thanks

I didn't have this problem with mine. Are you sure the yoke is fully seated? Try rotating it as you try to align the rear. That helped me when installing mine.

I have an auto so I can't rotate the front.
Did you attach the adaptor plate before or after the driveshaft was in place?

It's the long end that goes into the trans.

If you take it out of park you can rotate it.

Is it the pin on the differential keeping it from going in?

It's the adaptor plate that's hitting the rear differential. I think that once I get the adaptor plate to clear the pin will also hit.

My buddy is coming over to help right now. I was trying alone. I will also put in neutral.

If you have any other suggestions let me know.

Marc

It's going back! It's 1.25 inches longer than the OEM driveshaft. It's 9 lbs lighter.

Does the alum driveshaft have a universal joint at the rear? If so, you DON'T need to use the rubber coupling (Adapter plate?). Bolt it up directly to the flange. You may need shorter bolts.

Then the shaft would be 'shorter' by almost an inch.

Good luck.

It has an adapter plate that is required for installation. It's too long. Installation would be impossible. It has to go back.

Sorry for lagging on the pic of the adaptor. I sent the driveshaft back for it to be re-sized. It's been installed now for several weeks and all is good. This was a nice upgrade.

Glad you like it. I'm enjoying mine as well, and think it was a very worthwhile upgrade.
