Oil Sandwich plate w/ temp sensor bung

Hello everyone

I currently have a Z1 Motorsports oil cooler, and am looking to add an oil temperature sensor (I track my car, and want to monitor it on hottest days). I'm going to use an iPod Touch connected to a PLX Kiwi w/ iMFD and their external sensors, and then use the iPod Video adapter to get the video onto my screen (I have an 09 w/ Aux video in).

I see that one option is to add the sensor via an oil pan spacer. This I'd like to avoid since my car is lowered, and also a daily driver.

So I'm wondering if anyone has use a thermostatic sandwich plate that also has a temp sensor bung in it? If so, any feedback and possibly a URL to the one you're using?

Thanks!

Or you could add a splitter to the stock oil temperature sensor port.

Thanks Modme, that's a great idea. I'll look into that (presumably in the FSM, since I actually don't know where the stock sensor port is located!)

found it, right next to the pressure sensor.

Anyone know the fitting size for the temperature sensor (so I can find a tee adapter)?

Another option that occurred to me is that I could have a NPT fitting installed in the oil pan... seems like people tap and thread the oil pan, but maybe having a bung welded is better?

Anyone tried this?

Thanks!

I think they make pans with bungs already on them. I think there all bigger pans as well.
