Question - I may have missed it - but I think I read all 11 pages of posts...

Are we talking about replacing the 2 piece steel shaft with a 1 piece CF unit? Is the reason Inifiniti went with a 2 piece shaft due to the length of the shaft? (there is a joke in there somewhere!)

My worries would be around vibrations. Is vibration a risk more than failure? I'm figuring Infiniti must have went with a more complex 2 piece DS for some reason...

Also - is a one piece shaft simply plug & play? The stock center 'joint' must ride in some sort of support structure?

I'm all for a lighter DS - I think the performance possibilities are great. But what are the risks?

The stock shaft is a 2 piece shaft, it is rather long and does have a support bracket for the center joint. From what I understand, part of the reason for the 2 piece is to help with noise and vibration (i.e. luxury car) that would result from a long steel shaft, as well as for helping with packaging for the shaft as the two shorter lenght shafts can get by with a smaller diameter than what would be required for a single shaft of that length. I would suspect that the shaft is steel to save money. Carbon fiber has good vibration dampening characteristics, is very stiff torsionally and allows for a smaller diameter to achieve the same critical speed for a given length.

In one of the previous posts, I believe it was Mark@PST that stated that he would not be comfortable with the aluminum shaft that he had looked at due to it low critical speed. I believe that there were some comparison cirtical speed posted also and he might have posted the ctitical speed for the shaft that he is designing, which I believe was pretty high.

Mark @PST is ready to get production going from what he's been telling me.
He asked if G37Stampa lives close by his shop (in Tampa?) so that maybe he can drop by for the test fitting.
I messaged G37Stampa to give him a heads up that Mark @PST is planning to give him a call.
I had Mark @PST contact G37Stampa so we'll crossed our fingers and hope for the best lol

That's awesome to hear. You mind sending me your contact through PM?

Mark @PST will give you a bigger discount than the rest of us here because you're helping out.
I'll have him contact you as soon as I receive your number.
