I hate the rev matching when downshifting!

Does anyone else hate the rev matching when downshifting in tiptronic? is there any way to get rid of this ridiculous feature?

What? Without it, you're going to jolt the engine every time you downshift.

I love the rev matching, sure makes downshifting smoother, took me a bit getting used to it, but I'd much rather have it than not.

Sure makes for smoother shifting in aggressive situations....more effective too. To each their own.........

The whole idea is *NOT* to upset the suspension when downshifting. This ensures you won't lose traction because all of a sudden weight has shifted forward (due to engine braking).

Get a 6MT where you have to rev match manually or just don't drive in tiptronic.

I thought the 6MT did it as well ...

Regardless, I like it on my 7AT.

My 6MT has MRF rev matching

I liked the rev matching when I had my 07x but I do prefer doing it myself even more.

You do realize that rev-matching is appropriate driving behavior correct? Are you having problems with jerky down-shifting, or do you just not like smooth transitions between shifts?

I love the rev matching. I wish it was more pronounced as on the M version of the beamer.

Rev matching protects your drive train/tranny from damage, why would you not want that ?

I don't like it because i am always used to doing it myself. This is my first AT car and when i use the tiptronic my habit of manually rev matching + the automatic rev matching creates the opposite effect. I also don't like it when downshifting for engine braking. Sometimes a downshift needs a rev match but other times you want to down shift and to engine brake and the rev match delays this process. I would just rather more of the control to be in my hands when in tiptronic then for things to be done automatically. It will just take some getting used to i guess.

FYI Engine braking puts stress on the A/T transmission or M/T clutch...Even in a M/T car you have to rev match to protect syncro's and clutch.
