Service Engine Soon light with 800 miles?
The car only has 800 miles and the service engine soon light came up. Is this due to the break in mileage? And first oil change?
Or is this a problem?

Apparently, CEL is there to tell you something is wrong. Why not to read out the code and find out what exactly is wrong? Break in and oil change has nothing to do with CEL.
Don't take the Service Engine Soon warning lightly, mine came on and luckily after checking all my fuses I found that the one controlling the engines' fan operation was blown.
Only took it for a short drive, noticed the light was on, pulled over and the motor was very hot for such a short drive. Luckily I was just around the corner from my house, I let it cool down and limped it home.
Not sure, but I think the Service Engine Soon light is different than the Check Engine light (if they have both), usually CEL is emission related but could be wrong regarding the G.

Could it have been a service reminder that someone can set? My guess is that someone was looking through all of the menus and could have set up a service reminder that popped up. Just a guess though.
Service reminders will show up on the window that also has your avg mpg, outside temp, etc. The Service Engine Soon is in the Tachometer warning cluster.
Obviously, this is a new car. But sometimes people live way too far away from the dealership, or have such a hectic schedule, that it isn't always accommodating to take the car in for service.
So in cases like this and future situations, buy a code reader. They aren't expensive. At least you'll know what the CEL is, and you can act accordingly. Because posting an open thread that your car has a CEL... that simply isn't going to give you answers or peace of mind.

The service engine soon and check engine light are not the same thing and don't have the same degree of urgency. One is maintenance reminder, the other an idication of a fault code being set.
I highly doubt there are two separate dash lights (SES and CEL). People use both acronyms interchangeably. So, are you sure there are both on the G37, because otherwise alluding to a distinction between them isn't helping.
Where's my field service manual...?
