Did i damage my engine.

I bring my car to nearby shop for oil change (pure one filter and Pennzoil ultra). The bone head that I am forgot cars needs 5.2 qt. I just gave the 5qt oil and filter to mechanic, the past couple of time until he scratch my wheel. So i request for a different guy. The new guy told me I need an extra bottle to top it off and that my oil was really dirty.

Could not filling to 5.2qt of oil cause damage/scratch the cylinder?

He also told me oil was really dirty (changed after 5000/5months). Could they be setting me up for future service or previous mechanic didn't change the filter?

Just feeling like me car been violated and I don't feel like driving her.

Someone tell me she's fine and I am the only one.

I'm not sure I understand what the problem is. You had it filled with 5 quarts instead of 5.2?

When I had the stock engine without an oil cooler, 5 quarts of oil was perfect. During an oil change, you cannot completely drain all the oil from the engine. With the residual oil + 5 quarts, the engine oil is just around the high mark on the dip stick.

More importantly than measuring exactly 5.2qts is the oil level. Use the dipstick to see if you have enough. I can pretty much guarantee you did absolutely NO damage if you were just driving normally.

Ask him to show you what "clean" oil looks like after 5000 miles and compare them. Tell me the difference because I'm really interested.

if you put under the right size your engine will be fine

you will be playing fire if you make it on the right size for it ! why cuz you may damage your engine back seal with 2 much oil then it's a rebuiled if it's not a new engine

good luck

You didnt hurt it.
It would show just barely under the full line.
I use a 5.23 qt jug, and it hits the full mark perfectly.

Violated? Did the mechanic do a Ferris Bueller on your car??
