But even when this was happening, the car still drove like a beast. Its after the ecu reset that the car is feeling very sluggish.
The crappy idle is most likely the throttle bodies. You have to clean them. There's a DiY in the section for it. Lack of power can be too many things.

thats your issue, not the ecm reset, you should have mentioned this in the first place lol. Definately take it in.

Alright well I just finished doing some hard freeway pulls. Responsiveness is better. Acceleration has improved. I guess I just needed to drive it really hard so it could relearn my driving style. I still need to get the rpm issue situated. Gonna take it to my local specialist to do an "relearn" where they clean the throttle bodies etc. thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it!

I had the same problem when it would shut down on me. My car is at 115k miles , after I cleaned my throttle bodies, the idle performs like from bran new car. I have never had my car shutdown on me by it self after cleaning.

If you want to clean it, please Don't disconnect any cables from the throttle bodies!

im not too sure. another member a couple posts back mentioned 50 miles. I just hit the freeway and did about 30 minutes of insane hard pulls in regular mode and M mode. worked well.

if you haven't heeded the advice of others and cleaned your throttle bodies yet, I would look into that.

Also, make sure your MAF sensor connectors are solidly connected. Your symptoms described earlier point to either or both of the above.

If none of this makes sense to you, take your car in for a diagnostic and let them know the symptoms. You don't want the motor going weak on you in a dangerous situation.

Good luck

I was about to suggest this when I read this post. This takes care of my issues about every 20,000 miles. Unbelievable how well it runs and how smooth the idle is. The response is noticeably better and the cruise delay in the hills etc is non existent. I also run a good fuel injector cleaner every other month.
Do it, clean the TBI's, add some good FI cleaner and put a few hard driving miles on it before you just go to the dealer.

I am quite sure that after almost 7 years the issues have long since been resolved- especially since the OP and most of the other users haven't been on the forum in years...

Another dead thread brought back from the digital abyss...
