clutch slipping

Good morning guys. I was going home yesterday and i felt my clutch slip on 3rd gear so i put it on neutral and tried again but still slipped. The third try it finally caught it and I was wondering if this is a sign of my clutch on its way out. Also I've been feeling that my clutch also feels a bit "softer" and the engagement point seems lower than before. Do I need to replace my clutch soon?

Don't know about being unable to switch gears, but when my clutch slipped I had to give it a lot of gas in order to make the car move. Without enough clutch material to grab the flywheel, the clutch slips, which will cause your RPMs to go up way faster than you will gain speed. My clutch was completely gone when it got replaced, but I never felt any issues going into any gears, or the pedal feeling softer... Maybe it's the CSC failing? How's your clutch fluid?

I have not checked my clutch fluids but i did get a 30k checkup pretty recently but not sure if that includes the clutch fluids

Clarify what you mean by clutch slip? What exactly happened that normally does not?

I was turning into my neighborhood and put it in 3rd gear and as i pressed the gas, I was accelerating really slow but my rpm was going up as normal. I thought i wouldn't know how it would feel but as soon as it slipped, i felt it.

Ok... That does indeed sound like a worn clutch. It was a bit unclear in your original statement if the issue was clutch related, or difficulty getting into gear.

The behavior you describe should be present in all gears, especially lower ones. How many miles on the car, what year? Probably not a bad idea to replace the CSC with a HD model at the same time.

That is pretty low miles. Lots of factors contribute to wear. If you drive in lots of city traffic, parts will wear faster. Driving style too. I lucked out with my last car, bought it at 10K miles, sold it at 85K, while still on the original clutch... A camaro z28 no less.

One of the drawbacks of a manual I suppose. You pay less (or more!@# because 6mt's are in less supply than 7at's) upfront than for an automatic, but the cost is recouped on the back end with higher maintenance cost of a clutch replacement.

Check (in this order) master cylinder, concentric slave cylinder, clutch friction surface itself.
