It's not an actual oil cooler. It's just the bracket that mounts on your bumper reinforcement bar and replaces your side vents which you don't have cuz of the foglamps.

And don't worry... a little bit of routine tuning and you'll be fine.
Just be sure to add the oil cooler later if you didn't get it now, and a transmission cooler if you have an auto. I've run mine hard at well over 100 and it's held up without even a hickup. Enough so that I'm confident I can run it in the Texas Mile easily if I can fit it into my schedule in March. I was thinking about a larger radiator, too, but so far I have not seen any temp issues. I'm confident this is all built very well, and after all 8 pounds of boost isn't very much at all.

And you will want to think about traction. I've run both 255s on the 18" wheels and 275s on the coupe 19" wheels. More traction the better when you have this much power.

I already have the oil and trans coolers( made sure I got them the same time-yes 7 spd auto).. Traction I will have ZERO problem with 255's in the rear and AWD I should be all set.. I have aftermarket TSW( staggered set up 19's)..

Is there anyone that has had a trouble-free FI install? I would guess that even with initial issues most would still spend the $7 -$10K on their dd all over again?

Trouble free install and ownership. So much so that we're looking at doing it to our Z as well. Whatever it ended up costing, probably 8 or 9 with the [required!] coolers and 10 with the optional exhaust, is worth it because it is a significantly different and better car now. And unique - Infiniti doesn't have anything like it and it easily out-does an M56.

You have to realize that early adopters for anything aftermarket could have issues, and if you've been doing this for enough years you'll notice that some installers or aftermarket manufacturers just dissappear and you're stuck with a piece of crap, but others press on and get the final details right. Stillen followed thru and got this one right.

That said, you still have to make sure you get the right installer, and there are certainly a lot of poor "shops" around. Some people could do the install themselves, but don't even try to get into it unless you've done these types of things before. The last thing you need is a leak in the fuel pump or lines and those are not easy to work with.

This Stillen SC kit is the single best thing to do to a G or Z. It'd be great on an M or FX too (and much better than the absurdly priced FX50). There is no going back to a boring 330 or 350 HP G after this 500+. And we know that Infiniti won't be producing a 500 HP G *ever*, and that the likely future 400HP G will be a hybrid with a very different kind of performance.

The end result is docile in normal driving, but a huge reserve of power is always quickly available (few days go by where I don't have more than some spin in the rear tires - you can easily see why the GT-R has to be AWD). If you stay out of the boost then gas mileage isn't bad, and if you get into it for a lot of passing on highway trips you can still get well over 20 MPG. I don't know how this car would do in an HPDE event because I have a dedicated car for that, but one of these days I will have some fun and find out.

What could be better with the supercharged G37? Well, the automatic could shift more smoothly: what is already inherent in the Infiniti design is just exacerbated with this much more power going thru it. And when the traction control takes over in extreme conditions, the boost drops very sharply. But that's more Infiniti's issue since it's cutting throttle on it's own. So this car really needs an intermediate level in the traction control besides just "on" and "off".

We know that Infiniti is two years from the next G. I hope it's the same engine (and not a Mercedes 6), but it frankly needs direct injection and yet another gear in the transmission. That'll be a bit tougher for the aftermarket to tune, but the result will be an much smoother and more flexible engine.

Running hard is subjective. Fortunately, something like the Texas Mile involves lots of cooling due to the speed. Just be careful and watch your gauges and/or set alarms.

I'm able to overheat a stock G37 in a few minutes of driving at a road course

Exactly, it is subjective and in the end it comes down to what the point of the car is. For me, the point with this particular car is not to attempt to make it into a track car. I do have a friend with a fully developed G37S track car (coupe) and it's great. And it wasn't before it got an oil cooler (side point, interesting to note that the 2012 Z finally got an air to oil cooler from the factory, don't know if the G did or did not).

However, this said, just for fun the Texas Mile will be a test (if I can even get the time to attend this year). I'll have the temps recorded during the run. I don't foresee anything fatal, both coolers are there and there is plenty of airflow. A mile isn't much and it will be over quick. My main point in attending is just to watch the "big" cars go for it.

What I might consider attempting ultimately is to determine if I can run the car at 120 MPH for 1/2 hour in an Open Road Race. I won my class at 120 ten years ago in a car that would have done 140 without any drama at all. But that car was naturally aspirated so there weren't any heat sink issues. So I don't know about this one. Regardless, this is not the purpose of the car for me anyway.
