I've had the car for 2 months now and i am very fond of always being in manual mode. I drive pretty aggressively ( hey, a 16 year old + 2010 g37, u do the math) and i was wondering if my constant coasting (D -> N -> D at high speeds) actually harms my transmission, i assumed not since my cousin did it all the time in his G, but if it does, ill stop immediately.


Also, it would help to list things that wud hurt my transmission while im in manual mode, i wud very very very much appreciate this.

 

I'm sure you worked very hard to get the money to buy your coupe but I don't understand why you didn't just elect for a manual since that would have resolved your bizarre shifting patterns.

 

The trick is to put it in N, put the throttle to the floor, then slam it into D. Sort of like dumping the clutch on a manual car...

Sorry to sound harsh, but after reading this and some of your past posts, you really should be driving a beater car instead of a G until you learn more about cars.
People really should learn about cars a little more before they just start driving them like they don't know a thing about them, especially one that is nice and $40,000+.

 

I've done that before with rental cars... Lots of fun. We had one guy in our group some years back get the new camaro as his rental. Somehow, after doing some donuts, the power steering went out. It was fun to see that car spinning around though.

 

What would be the point of coasting in neutral? save gas? If that's your mindset, then its wrong. coasting in neutral is unsafe and actually doesn't save you gas. google it...

 

There's nothing funny about intentionally breaking someone else's property.

I think everyone has taken a rental car for a "fun" spin at some point.

 

Search this, "Rev-Matching," a driving technique in the MT world but if I'm correct it goes for the AT's as well. Read it then apply this into your driving habits and you should be fine.
