My car have 63K on the clock and is due for a transmission flush, the car is out of warranty already, what brand and type of oil is best for our car auto tranmission.

I had mine done at the dealer. I trust my mechanic there fully. there is actually no need according to infinity to change the trans fluid. but I did and my mechanic there agreed. HI did ask about different types of oils and he said not to go away from the oem oil. he said he had done a few oil changes with "better" oil and the trans did not like it. so I went with what he said. My dealer is very mod friendly and the mechanic i deal with builds TT's and SC infinities/nissans at the dealer.

 

yeah stick with the OEM oil. And do the flush do not skip it.....

 

Is there a DIY for the 7 a/t transmission oil change?

 

if you're at, i'd highly recommend you stay with the oe stuff.

I will not be flushing this transmission. I learned the hard way from my Maxima. As soon as I had the tranny flushed at the dealer the transmission problems began. Never again. Ill have the fluid changed but not flushed.

 

I did a drain/refill on mine, spreading it out over several OCI's to get a full "flush" so to speak.

Here's my how-to with some pictures. It's for the 5A/T. The 7A/T is a sealed unit and i'm not sure if you can access the filler tube.

Yes I did the drain and fill as well, but because you said you had 63k I should of asked you if you did it at 30k if not wouldnt it be better to do a flush because you have so many miles? I dunno if thats a correct statement, thats what I have been told over the years.....

 

Has anyone done the drain and fill on a 7AT before? The 7AT unit is sealed and the fluid is supposed to last "life time" lol. I don't believe that.

I'd like to have my local dealership service the unit but I don't want them to flush it. How do I make sure that doesn't happen?

 

The 7AT change situation is weird. The Infiniti maintenance tables say that it's sealed, doesn't need changing. But the service manual has a procedure for changing it. There's been a DIY with pics, don't recall if it was here, G35driver, or NICO. IIRC, you need a pump to get the new fluid in, and it's a drain, fill, drain, fill, drain, fill. So that's not really a flush.
