All that work drawing and he had the channel lock pliers backwards! lol Remember the effort applied should rotate the handles of the pliers around the center point, not through. Also use equally opposing forces for the two pliers.

Well I tried all this and apparently my **** was welded to the shifter, couldn't get it out without pretty much destroying the leather on it. Oh well...

Yep... locking pliers and channel locks, that's typically the only way this is going to happen because of the OEM adhesive. Even better as a two-person job.

new account couldnt gwt my old credentials.
You have to use the bortom wrench to keep the shift linkage from bending and hold the shifter assembly as you spin the head. Took me 20 healthy turns.

2 person job for sure. Person 1 - Vise grips on the shaft, under the boot. Person 2 - use a strap wrench on the **** itself. Trick is to put another hand over the strap to maintain its grip on the ****. Otherwise it won't grab very well. Mine wasn't damager at all. Only removed it because I couldn't take the oe boot anymore.
