Are Short shifters bad for our engines?

Whats goin on?

I was thinking about buying a short shifter (08 g37s 6mt) and ive been looking up and down forums left and right.

I just want to kno is using a short shifter bad for your trans or anything?

Is this a mod i shouldnt get?

I just dont want to buy one and do more harm then good in the long run thats all. I'm not an exp on the subject and just want to get a better understanding of what im getting. Any advice you could give would b great. Thanks again

TWM short shifter

I just ordered mine from TWM. I will let you know what I think after I get it in and install it. I've heard some people swear its the #1 best mod for the money as far as the feel of driving your car. Others not so much. Must be a to each his own kind of deal.

I have a short shifter and would recommend it. There is a drastic difference over stock...

I love my TWM Short throw... it's been in the car for about 9 months now. Just make sure you get the weighted shift **** with it. The stock **** sits too low and makes it a pain to shift because of its feather weight.

Had short throws on my VW GTi and two GT Mustangs.... fun, quicker shift, It's a no brainer IMO for any manual that's not already short. Fairly inexpensive too

I've got a b&m here and the only two complaints I have about it is it rattles like a son of a bitch when your at WOT and there are no stop bolts on it. Other than that I love the way it shifts and drives.

I have to laugh at the "will it hurt my trans/engine" Sorry.. (although if your not use to the shifter and start missing shifts it's possible I guess)

Anyway, the purpose of short throw shifters is to reduce shifting times. Your ultimately shortening the distance between each gear. It's for spirited driving when your really banging through the gears, but even for every day it is obviously going to feel different. I prefer short throw. ...nothing like getting in some older sports cars with the damn shift **** sticking up 6-8in

...regretting the AT thinking about this. The fiance forced the AT so she would be able to drive it, of course never does anyway.
