Car doesn't recognize I'm in park

Well, as the title says my car does not recognize I'm in park. The button doesn't pop back out, so every time I park I have to disconnect the battery so the car stops beeping. Took it to a dealer yesterday near closing time. Dumbass tried to blame it on me for having test pipes or something stupid. Pissed me off. Guy is a straight up dumbass. So any fixes? Taking it to Riverside Infiniti tomorrow.

Shifter button on the handle? I bet you need a new shifter assembly.

Yes, the button pops out everywhere it's supposed to, except park. I took the shifter off, and the white retractable thing doesn't pop up when it's in park. I hope I do get a new shifter assembly, the boot is falling apart. Thanks, Terry!

I already got blamed for test pipes. But seriously I hope Riverside will help me out. Supposed to be mod friendly.

I know haha. I want to tell my mom that but she doesn't know lot about cars and would probably blame it on the Mods. She will get even more mad when I say should have gotten a manual.

I’m just wondering if the dealer guy wants nothing to do with a car that has test pipes. Test pipes, one of the more detrimental illegal mods, may suggest to them a potential dispute over warranty work in general, and they may not want to get into that hassle.

Which is why I am taking it to riverside haha. They can't void my warranty. How does a test pipe void the small spring in my shifter?

LOL @ Chekov appearing whenever test pipes are mentioned. :P
Don't take it to the dealer with test pipes if you can help it.
On the other hand, Riverside has known to be forum friendly, so maybe more forgiving...

Yeah some guy told me they replaced his whole engine for oil consumption even when he had full bolt ons. So I'm hoping a spring in the shifter will be nothing haha
