whiney engine

Got the g37S 08' (12k miles) in the first week of december last year and have been driving it with no issues since then.

Lately though i've noticed that there is a definite whine the engine makes when idle and in 1st and second gear. The pitch gets higher as you give it more RPMs in those gears.

Wondering if this is normal or not.

If it's whining you should show it some discipline

probably just gear whine. i have it, as do most other 6mt owners. it's normal, especially with the 6mt.

What intake do you have?
Power steering pump can cause whine too.

Since your car is under warranty, don't you want to have the dealers fix the problem?

Sounds like gears to me. Mine does the same, and I don't mind because it is a fast car type of sound. hehe

Doubt its my secret invisible supercharger.

Under warrenty but I wanted to make sure it was not just a normal sound. Taking it to the dealer for first, and free, oil change. Will have them take a listen.

You sure its not the AC? Im not sure if its the compressor, or the fan or what but my AC whine's ALOT. It changes pitch with the RPMs as well. As soon as you turn off the AC with the AC button, the sound goes away. I never notice it above 2nd gear because the road sounds cover it up (or it blends in with more consistant RPMs)
