Royal Purple + other fluids/mods

Sup,

Since my 2011 G37x is a lease I want to keep modding to a minimum, but I also want to sqeeze every bit of power out of her without voiding my warranty. I only have the windows tinted and am about to get an all black custom painted grille added. I heard about Royal Purple oil you can put in your car and was wondering how it should be used? Right now my car is 2 weeks old and has 222 miles on it, does it need to have more miles before I switch over? When should I change to Royal Purple (if at all)?...if not what about Amsoil..

Also...I heard about Royal Purple Ice...is this a mod I can do myself? It seems all I have to do it just open the bottle and add it to my radiator...anyone have experience or feedback regarding this?

Royal Purple Radiator Additive

Also...are there any after market easy to attach/direct fit, gas/brake pedal pads?...Wanted to cover up the rubber pedals with maybe a chrome or some other type of metal....feedback?

Further, would changing any of the filters do anything for me? Like replacing the oil filter with a brand name and the intake filters with K&N?

Thanks in advance

I know this doesn't answer your question but I'm thinking of adding some Militec1 to my engine oil & transmission fluid.

I wouldn't waste money on a lease. Of course, I would never lease, but that's just me.

If your goal is to "squeeze every bit of power" out of your engine, I have never seen any objective, reproducible, evidence that any additive or something you can pour into your engine is going to have any significant, noticeable increase in engine output or performance.

Even after market air filters are not going to make any real difference in the performance of a current VQ series engine. Over the years I've tried Wix, AFE, K&N, and Amsoil filters, and none of them made a bit of difference (except sometimes in the weight of my wallet ).

In my opinion your money is best spent elsewhere, especially with this being a leased vehicle.

That's great, thanks for your opinion. Do you have answers to any of my questions?

IMO it's not a waste at all....I'm driving the car I wanted without having to finance $600+ a month....aside from the fact that even if I did finance it I would sell it in three years and get a new car anyway... so the difference is negligable.

I did answer. I said I wouldn't waste money on a lease. Spending your money to modify or do more maintenance than is minimally required for a car you're going to return to the dealer is foolish, IMO.

However, if you have more money than sense... knock yourself out.

Your insolence is a testament to your ignorance. You did not answer any of my questions; instead you commented on wheather a lease is a waste or not which was not my question. Do you lack basic reading comprehension skills?

Since you are from New York, I suppose I have to speak slowly, point by point.

Royal purple is expensive - don't waste your money on a lease, use the cheaper Nissan ester oil. However, if you like to waste money you can replace the engine oil whenever you want. I'd go with the cheapest filter, too.

Tinting windows and adding a custom grille that you'll have to remove and replace with the original at turn in was BRILLIANT! Excellent financial decisions.

Changing the pedal pads can be done. Try this site: ULTIMATE PEDALS however, keep the old ones handy unless you'd like to give the ones you buy to the dealer.

And finally, if you want to put drop in filters in your car, like K&N, they DO make them, but your HP gains will be negligible if any. Since you appear to enjoy wasting money, you may choose to go with a Jim Wolf dual popcharger... supposedly they give 6-10 whp gains, according to their site.

Enjoy.

Nice edit, by the way... insolence was the word you were looking for, not indigence, but I wasn't going to correct you. You were on a roll!

My left coast friend,

Wasn't that easy? Giving your opinion without angst or anger, doesnt it feel good to be nice to people?

I agree with Royal Purple being a bit more expensive than Nissan oil, I read elsewhere people noticed performence improvements when they switched. I just wanted some feedback from the good group of people that compliment these forums. For what it's worth I love having tinted windows, they only cost me 100$ to get done anyway..Since I have the lease for 39 months that breaks down to $2.56 a month...I think I can live with that loss. The grille was actually too good to pass up. I bought an OEM Infiniti grille for $70 that was full of scratches due to improper shipping. My friend specializes in painting grilles and other items for cars so he didnt charge me to paint it. Since I know how to install the grille myself I saved on labor costs...again let's do some math...$70 for the grille over a 39 month lease...$1.79~ a month that roughly breaks down to. Not to mention the fact that the custom grille can easily be sold on any of these sites or ebay once the car goes back...I would say my losses, if any, are marginal.

Thanks for the link to the pedals, they look sweet.

Cheaper nissan ester oil? That brew is over $12 at the dealer - RP oil is around $9 /qt.

I have to be honest, brother... I'm a transplant. Originally from Rhode Island, which is where I developed my sharp, sarcastic wit.

I beg to differ.

Look up 300V oil.

Then again, the gain is so minimal (but beyond dyno error range) that it wouldn't be worth it to most people, and especially not when the horsepower gained isn't enough to make a significant difference unless you're racing.
