g37 burning oil

i checked my oil awhile back about 1500 miles after my oil change at the dealer. im not sure if they filled it low but it was at the low dot on the stick so i added a 1/2 quart. when i did this i drove the car for awhile then checked again then it was at the high point on the stick. i just checked it again today 1500 miles after i added some and its at the low point again.

am i burning oil? maybe im not checking the oil correctly. this morning i let the engine warm up shut it off then checked the stick. should i be driving for awhile first then checking it?

thanks in advance

Make sure you are on a level surface....I checked my dipstick when my car was parked on the driveway...has a mild slope. Thought I was 1/2 quart low. When I parked in the garage, which is level, the dipstick reflected "full".

The known issue of VQ37HR motor burning oil is actually quite an isolated issue just for 6MT owners with a heavy lead right foot. If your automatic X is burning oil, it might be a whole new issue. I say you take your car to the dealership right away.]

EDIT: I misread your post in the first place. It sounds like you're car isn't really burning any oil. Remember, consistency is the key. Check your dip stick when the engine is turned off. Also, make sure you wipe the dip stick clean when you pull it out the first time, stick it back in, and put it out one more time to get a good reading.

I think ideally you want to heck hen the engine has been off for a while. You should get close to max.
