power to weight ratio is better on a sedan than calculated for a coupe

And to think I chose the sedan for the convenience of having 4 doors.

What was I thinking?

LOL!

^ in base configuration you are correct, the sedan weighs quite a bit less. i always think in terms of the 6MT trim since that's what i have. even though it has the lighter manual gearbox and no AWD, all the optional goodies that come standard with the 6MT pkg add up in terms of weight. so the difference for 6MT's is not quite as significant...but still the sedan is lighter.

I know the doors have a beam, similar to what they use on a stop sign.
because the coupe was so low, this was req by nhtsa to get the side impact crash rating from poor to a passing grade.

these extra steel is why all the coupes weigh more.
look at the 370z,weighs like 400lbs lighter.
no sunroof,no back seat etc.

Yeeeaaauuup. I don't track my car and it's pretty much stock except for a JWI.

I do, however, drive it like I stole it. And I will be making modifications to it, only AFTER I have paid for it. I won't blow money on extras until the bank sends me that note. That extra $$$ can go towards paying the damn thing off.

But das jus me...

really you should read,we are discusing the factory hp rating why 1 is slighlty higher than the other. I know how much the sedan weighs
with 37 posts, you are an expert noob.

So who cares if your sedan is lighter, I personally would rip you up,my coupe vs your lighter sedan.

so sorry I'm modded up ying yang, unless you got tt or a s/c talk a walk.

no **** weather play a factor captain obvious.

LOL @ thread.

Besides Nissan just advertising a few HP difference for the sedan, convertible and coupe have any of you actually looked at the exhaust under the sedan?

I had an 08 G37S MT coupe and traded it for the 10 G37xS. I have changed the exhaust on both cars (Coupe-Fast Intentions...Sedan-Stillen). I can tell you first hand that the Sedan exhaust is very restrictive. The same shop that installed my coupe exhaust, installed my Stillen exhaust on my sedan and they were laughing at the size of the OEM exhaust on the Sedan. The coupe exhaust flows better and the piping is larger. The sedan exhaust looks like it belongs on a civic. That can be were the hp differences come from.

Also, with just the same mods on my sedan as I had on the coupe, my sedan is way faster than my coupe was. Even my friend with a G37S coupe with the same mods as I have can tell you my sedan completely runs over him.

I'm sure if 10 coupes and 10 sedans did a few dyno pulls and you shuffled the printouts, you'd have a mix of coupes and sedans from top to bottom.

I think it's the exhaust, because I had a loaner 09 sedan and it was so quiet. I don't see a base G37 sedan on the site, but basic journey sedan weighs 3,618, and basic journey coupe is 3,631. Loaded 6MT sedan weighs 3,701, and loaded 6MT coupe is 3,710. I don't see the big difference in weight or horsepower.
