Stillen Intake ?

So I just installed the intake, and jesus christ I will never want to do that again. I do have a question I couldn't find in my searches. I couldn't fit the air shield on the front, is that gonna hurt me in the long run or when it rains? There just wasn't enough thread left to secure the shield on.

No, most people I know run the Gen 3's w/ out the shield. My boy RaulGCustom is currently running his Gen3's without using the shield, and he has not reported any problems. Just be sure to clean them frequently and regularly.

Ya every car I had before this G I ran either a K&N or an Airaid, but none were this open to elements mainly water.

Well thats a little peace of mind for me, thanks.

yeah bro, I didn't install the shield, and I have been through a few storms! LOL!

I did it because in some sick way I thought it would grab more air, I'm no engineer, but this may be correct

I just put my Gen 3 on this past weekend and I agree, never again. What a pain in the **s. I was able to install the shield but, I had a tuff time getting the nuts to thread. There isn't much play. Now I am just waiting for someone on the West Coast with a vert to go by ARK's shop so they can get the fitment for the convertible right. I know there are other systems avaible now but, I think ARK's will be worth the wait. I think a nice exhaust system with the Gen 3 will make the hassle it was to install it worth while. If not, at least it looks cool.

Ive got the Tanabe axle back, but this friday Im having the y/mid pipe replaced with 2.5" straight pipe for true dual exhaust to the Tanabe. Even now the exhaust note has changed but cant wait for this.

According to my dealer, I should have nothing to worry about voiding with an intake or exhaust.

^No, they will not. UNLESS they trace a problem back to the intake system, which I have never ever EVER heard happen.

my hood latch didnt clip a couple weeks ago, and my dealer tried to blame it on my air intakes hahaha so i bitched them out saying it wasnt anywhere close to touching the hood release cable. he then agreed and fixed it.

i have since been going to a different dealer and they have complimented the mods lol. so it all depends on where you go

yeah I love mine. Had them for a few months now. Was the worst installation ever. My lower back was killing me from leaning over the car all day. Took me a while to get the shield to thread on. A little pushing and alot of short wrench turns and I finally got it on. Dropped the nut like 3 times before finally getting it on.

i had the same problem when installing my gen3's try swapping the cones from side to side or the last piece of the charge pipe side to side( the one the filter attaches to) It's been a few months I cant remember what worked to get the shield put on. BTW the car sounds even better with the ARK exhaust
