Transmission hard downshift, then engine stallin
Once the leak is fixed, they will fill-drain-opreate-repeat the transmission several times to be sure any coolant in the transmission is flushed out.
At least, this is the description of what happened on a relative's GM car several years back.
Has there been anything more on this?
I started up my 2008 today, got out onto the road and it wouldn't go above maybe 2500 (around the 2200 RPM discussed), felt like fuel cut. It seemed to be okay in higher gears as long as the RPM stayed down. I did notice the shifting was much harder than normal. After a couple miles it just died on me and would not restart. Thirty minutes for a tow to the dealership, and it fired right up.
Is there anything I should request the dealer to look at or change? Sounds like the transmission needs to be checked for coolant leakage?
The tech mentioned that the ECU has a fuel cut built in to keep you from revving over 2500 when it is in neutral that sounded a lot like what happened, but I was in gear.

I have not had the issue since they did the reprogram of my 7sp tranny in December 2010.. but perhaps it's just such an infrequent issue that I haven't experienced it yet.
All I can say is that my prediction is that no engine codes will have been thrown (as in my case), and your car will "check out fine" at the dealership.
The mystery will go on.
It's interesting, I guess the problem is not related to the 7AT, it's the engine issue or engine programming issue.
I assume you have a G37 coupe 2k8, right? There have been no issues like this in the 2k8 G35's... You have a 5AT or 6MT?
