Hey, guys, basically every time its below 32 degrees outside and the car seats overnight when I first start the car the clutch pedal feels like the fluid is frozen for the first few minutes. It(pedal) just moves veeeery slowly until the car warms up. After that its perfectly fine, all the shifts are good and all. Is it normal? My 98 maxima was seating in temperatures far below that and never noticed anything like that... Thank you!

 

yeah funny because we've been getting below 30s.....and below 20s the last few days..I noticed the pedal and the shifter gets very stiff after sitting for a few hours outside.

 

Same here... wonder if its normal or there is something wrong with our cars..

 

well i'm going to just assume something wrong with these cars since everything else seems to fail on the overpriced altima's

Not sure how many performance vehicles you've driven, but the "heavy" feel is pretty common, especially in extreme temperatures. The car is fine just don't beat on it until you're sure its warm. I usually start my car 15 minutes before driving it in anything below 30. It still takes a minute to warm up the trans but not nearly as long as if you just started it and drove off.

 

I'm having a different cold weather problem.. It seems that when I roll (very slowly) when I just turn on the car, any attempt to put it in 1st gear results in grinding. I never had this problem when it was warm outside, and it seems that once the car warms up it doesnt do it anymore.. (it still locks out 1st when rolling too fast tho)

Any ideas?

 

the engine is revving higher when the car has just started in the cold, so the gears dont match up. put it in second!

 

Had Ferraris and Lamborghinis driven and started in temperatures below zero and none were that sensitive to cold...go figure.
