is this normal? Car shuts off in cold weather

So i drove my car for about an hr to the store. I stayed at the store for another hour and when I came out I started it. However the car had other ideas and stalled on me. I started it again and it stalled once more. I became a lil worried but I started it a 3rd time and added some gas then it stayed on.

I did notice that the car started normal and reached about 2.5k rpm then it slowly dropped until it shut itself off. Did that about 2 times before it actually stopped at 1k (when i reved the engine the 3rd time).

So the question is this normal? Ive had no issues since and its really hard to replicate this problem. It happens once in a blue moon but it does happen. It is freezing in jersey lately but the car didnt have a problem cranking at all.. It started right but the RPM continued to drop until it just shut itself off.

Also i feel like revving the engine when there is no oil inside of it can be bad.

Note: 08 6mt coupe.

No, anytime a running automobile stalls out on it's own it's not normal. The question you want to know is what's wrong or why is it doing that. What other factors are involved besides it being cold? Have you recently modded anything? Is anything else any different than it's ever been before? Has it done this before when it was cold?

100% stock... and yes it has done this before however it will be months inbetween each time. And afterwards I cannot replicate it on demand.

May be the dreaded gas line freeze - not as common as it used to be with additives - starving for gas could be caused by partial blockage of the fuel line - more likely with low tank level.

ive seen some people get water stuck in the lines which causes that freeze.

you can go to the delaership and have them do a relearn for the a/f

Add dry gas to a tank and see if it helps. Should get rid of any water that may be freezing in the lines.

Our 2008 did this the other day ....wife was out running errands so the car was good and warmed up (was cold but not below freezing). She came home to drop something off, was inside for 15 -20 minutes. She got back in the car to go spend more money and when she started the G up, it started then stalled. She started it back up and it was fine. Can't tell ya any other cirmcustances as I was outside putting up Christmas lights so I heard it. Sounded normal, no excessive rev or anything. Hasn't done it since.

I have a 08 6mt coupe and had the same problem. Turned out to be a bad valve timing cover or something. Covered under warranty.
