Oil Cooler?

So i live in Phoenix and it's hot here. (duh)
Every time i get a car wash, the car seems to run more smoothly and not as grind-y (engine noise/feel) for lets say 30 min afterwards. I realize it may be a completely subjective thing and some may say its in my head, but honestly i think that the water running around the engine bay or onto the radiator may be the reason. Again, no real info other than how i feel.
So to the real question, i am thinking about throwing an oil cooler on to aid in cooling and with my super scientific reasoning about the car wash, i think that it will help a lot with grindiness. So am i stupid or what?

when your oil temps rises your power will gradually decrease a little. that might be the reason why. our engines does have high temp problems and there's no way to monitor that unless you get a oil temp gauge installed.

living in AZ must be tough with all those hot days. i would highly recommend an oil cooler. Stillen and GTM makes good kits and about the same price range.

Nice work wei, I love the piping and the idea to shield them. I think that I've read that post a few times in the last week . I had a question while reading it though. the 370 guy mounted the cooler with the couplings facing the ground in order for it to drain when changing the oil. U mounted it it the other way. What is the reason to do it that way?

Reading it again u said that u did it that way to avoid leaks. Would u do it the same if u did it again or flip it?

I would do it straight up again no doubt, if u look at all the GTM threads, their cooler is sitting up right also. I know exactly what you're saying though cuz I too had think "how in the world am I gonna get the rest of the oil out" lol. Most people will just tell you that it's no big deal. Another thing you gotta know is the fittings sits very low if you mount it upside down and can be very dangerous if you're lowered.

If you can find a way to mount it sideways do it haha! Might be hard but still doable. Amplifiedmotorsports does it that way! Ask Lou for some tips.

Get one of these.

AE • Products • Nissan • Z54 OCK

This is the only oil cooler kit I'd recommend
