I am getting to change the oil for the 1st time. 2600 miles, and was wondering if I should stay with conventional oil or go the synthetic route? I also have an M45 that the dealer put a new engine in with regards to this same question?

I would only use penzoil ultra or mobil 1 synthetic. some peopel prefer one over the other

 

If you want the absolute best at about $50ish per 6 quarts, I'd say go for:

Motul 8100 X-Max 5w30 or Redline Synthetic 5w30
^^^Both are ester-based top notch synthetics and can be found online. Ester based oils are recommended for our 3.7L VQ motors so might as well pay about $8-$9/quart on a premium ester based synthetic, rather than pay for conventional Nissan Ester oil which costs more.

If you want some good synthetics but better bang for the buck, I'd say:

Castrol Syntec, Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum or Pennzoil Ultra
