Stillen G37 Supercharger Question

Has anyone installed this kit to their G37 Coupe yet? If so what does it do for the 0-60 time?

I just purchased a new 2010 G37 Anniversary edition earlier this week. Although it's pretty quick already, I want it to be faster. There is this guy I know that is a know-it-all that recently purchased a 370Z and I can hear him now trying to tell me how his car is faster because mine is heavier due to the back seats and so on. I want to install this kit before he even knows I have the car and not let him or anyone know I've installed it. Then get him at a stop light and blow his doors off and look at his know-it-all self and say, "Guess you should have bought the car with back seats, huh?"

Anyway, times and so on would be greatly appreciated.

I've been hunting for a 0-60 or 1/4 mile before / after FI comparison myself... Maybe I missed it?

lol your car will be down for a bit for the install...it won't be just an overnight install. also, TT'ing the car will give you more power than a SC kit.

Is it just me or are there are a lot of threads on these boards about people modding their cars to prove something to someone else? Or get a "look" from someone else? A reaction from someone else? Or get a rise out of someone else? Or to be "better" than someone else? I just don't get it...

If you're going to drop close to ten grand on a car you have had less than a week, then do it because it's something YOU want for you not because you want to make an "In your face!" comment to your buddy...

Just my $.02.

You don't know my "bubby"... LOL.

Really though, I love the G37 but I want it to feel like I'm driving a Lamborghini when I want the power. I saw this supercharger kit and noticed 515hp and thought, WOW. I just want the car to go a little faster than it already does, especially from 0 to maybe 90. I'm not the type of person to go around trying to race someone but I would like to know if I did that afterwards the other person would think, holy crap those G37s are quick.

If you want it to feel like a Lamborghini, you gotta buy one.

You can get it close however

Just be aware of the "other" costs associated with making the car faster, and remember that you're going to have some major traction issues. If you're doing this to drag race, don't forget some good tires and appropriate rims.

If you've ever driven a Lamborghini, you'd know the G will never "drive" like a Lamborghini But welcome to the fourms, any pics of your car?

+1. just don't slap 150+ hp on a car and leave it at that. you need to think about upgrading the brakes, tires, cooling, etc. i mean just the 19' spot rims are too skinny to provide any real traction even in stock power...i won't even get into the lsd...lol

Yeah if you are trying to push 500 WHP then you should go TT but either way you need to get a new BBK (for sure), new wheels/tires, and definitely upgrade the cooling of the car.

There are a lot of other costs than just the cost of the kit. And I agree with others that spending $10k+ just to impress other people is a waste of money, regardless of who your "buddy" is. It's your money but IMHO just do it for yourself or not at all

I figured the wheels and tires but me being new to this, is a BBK really needed if I'm just wanting very quick take off times? Let's just say I was going a 100mph today with the stock stuff and had to stop, and later I had 500+ hp and was going 100mph and had to stop. Wouldn't stopping from 100 be the same either way? Just asking because like I said I'm new and have never gone beyond stock on a car before.

If/when I do this it'll be for myself but it'll still be a good feeling knowing that I could mess with people if I wanted.

As far as pics of the car, I took 3 today but just with a cell phone to send to a friend that ask for them. I'll get some better pics soon but the car is just fully stock. The only thing different from most is it's the Anniversary Edition.

Another question... in your guys opinion, TT is better than SC?

I read some more about people who have installed the Stillen SC and seems they are all running into some issues at first and having to tweak things to get the car right after the install more than they figured on. I just don't want to mess anything up even if I am paying a pro to install the stuff?

When I do make a choice, is the dealer the best place to have the work done or a good high performance shop?

You made a good start by reading some threads. Spend more time reading a lot more of them and you will find a number of very detailed answers to everything you are asking.

there won't be any kit's out there that won't give you problems either it's performance, suspension, body kit's you name it. once you mod it there will be potential problem and that is a fact. if you don't want to deal with all these problems don't mod it at all.

Stillen has figured out all the tweaks and headaches that we had. you won't have any issues as long as it's installed correctly.

From that one example, no a new BBK wouldn't make a difference. The reason it would be a good idea to get a new BBK to handle the extra power is simply that fact, you have much more power than the original brakes are designed for and so you need a new set designed to handle the added stress.

And yes, IMO the TT is much better (for what you are going for). The TT can make more power easier than the SC, simple as that. The G's engine simply works better with a TT kit.
