Who here has replaced a clutch, flywheel on their G?

I am very mechanically adept and have been wanting to dive into more difficult projects on my car for some time. Only problem is I am more concerned that I will screw something up. I am wondering how difficult it is to install a new clutch and flywheel (provided I have a lift and proper tools).

It's a relatively straight forward job on the G. You will have to bleed the clutch slave when done as you have to break the lines when removing the transmission. Other than that there is a lot of room around the bell housing to get at the bolts.

It's not too bad. I did my OS Giken twin plate about 5 months ago. You need to lift the car up as much as possible and place the car on 4 stands. You also need a good transmission jack. Taking off the transmission is easy, but lining up the spline is a lot harder.

Bumping this because I'm considering saving myself about $400 in labor by doing it myself. Modme, were you able to get the car as high as high as you needed to drop the tranny by just placing it on jack stands? Do you recall how high exactly to be able to get he transmission from under the car? What difficulty did you have lining up the spline? Any details or guidance appreciated. Post or PM me.

Damn! Dropping a tranny on Jack stands is crazy!

Props to Modme for all the DIY!

I love my G37 S, but absolutely am hating the tranny. Why is it almost impossible to consistently get a smooth 1,2,3 shift in my 6mt G37S when trying to drive like a normal human being?, I can bang through the gears smoothly with no problem, but the minute I try to take it down a notch for the wife in the car; it's like a herky jerky ride with a newbie......

I've driven quite a few manuals over the years smooth as butter, but I can't get this thing down smooth even after 6 months of trying. I hate the almost non-existent clutch pedal feedback, along with the on/off engagement of it, Combined with the super low 1st gear. 3rd gear and up is a dream, and rev matching the downshifts are nice to - it's just that brutal 1st -3rd. Any ideas?

Get used to your wife being a bobblehead?

The only way for me to drive smoothly with this damn gearbox is to go up to 3.5kish RPM in 1st, 2nd and into 3rd.

Ditto with the clutch comments. The clutch pedal "mod" should help with that but I'm too chicken to try it. Most of the jerkiness I have with the car now is with the clutch in first gear though.
