It has been discussed alot on other forums, their mushrooms are made with very porous material. They are exteremly free flowing and orginally designed just for track racing purposes where water/debirs is not an issue. They are not a good idea for daily driving at all. You would pretty much be guranteed to get crap in your engine.

The stock intakes seem very good imo with the simple HKS drop in filters for extra airflow...unless you're looking for an aesthetic mod or going FI.
It's not as if the stock intake design are restrictive by any means, the gains coming from these various aftermarket intakes are from the positioning and airflow across the sensors that in effect alter the ECU functionality to alter the trimmings and also effect timing...in which case a simple COBB AP or any decent tune would be more effective without any aftermarket intake.
Some of these aftermarket intakes (I hate to say) like the RC2 e.g look kind of silly the way the rubber moldings are stretched and kinked along the heat-shield.
