Sounds like it's the oil filter itself and not that the oil needs to be changed. You can go into the onboard computer and see what your oil life is like in addition to checking it manually to see if it's clean or low. I got my oil filter and fluids changed at 5000 kilometers so depending how many miles you have on your car, it might be time for a service.

This is the standard maintenance alert that's programmed in the trip computer as part of the instrument cluster red dot matrix display. There's one for Engine Oil, Engine Filter, Tire and Other. These are just reminders that are programmed manually to let you know when your maintenance is due based on the mileage programmed (likely by your dealer). It's not a warning that something is wrong.

To reset them, go into your trip computer using the two buttons on the right side of the instrument cluster. The top button to enter into the trip computer menus and use the bottom button to scroll to the Maintenance menu. Go to Engine Oil, select it, then go to RESET and select it. Do the same for Oil Filter. You'll see the mileage read something like 0/3750 once it's reset (or 0/7500 if it's set for the longer interval).

This was helpful information. I had my first service at the dealer last week and they didn't reset the oil or filter warning lights. So this week they both popped on and I received a frantic call from my wife (her car) that something was wrong with the engine because the oil warning light had come on. The owners manual doesn't really explain how to reset the light so searching for answers on the web brought me to this forum. Thanks again for the advice.

Yesterday I got a flat on the way home from the awesome Virginia/MD I495 highway system that has ditches in the road instead of potholes. Anyway I took the tire/rim to the dealership and they threw on a new one. I was driving to work this morning and all the sudden the tire maintenance light comes on so I pull over thinking they didnt put it back on right or the lugs are loose. Everything appeared fine but now I feel more confortable knowing its manually set and not a warning to act on right away. Thanks Sky
