You can't go wrong with either one.....I would base it on where you live and their availability to get your car in. My G37 Sedan is with Sharif getting the GTM kit put on it and Sharif and Sam (with GTM) definitely have a great relationship with each other. I think Sam would be the first to tell you that Forged will do an excellent job with your car in all aspects...intallation, tuning, setup, etc.

Yep, that is mine can't wait to get it back. Sharif and Ryan have done a great job sending me pictures along the way, but you can never have too many

Can be done in the garage with a good set of hand tools and jack stands.

When you see the engine comp. all put back together, there is nothing to see. When I open the hood it looks like Stillen Gen3 ;-)

But we (or at least I ) would like a detailed review of how hard it is to do the actual install in your own garage. I'm mechanically inclined (I've built many muscle cars/classic restos/bobbers) and would like to know how tough it actually is. Because eventho I live ten minutes from GTM, I like to challenge myself and would like to be able to say "Yeah, I TT'd my own car"

So details or ban

It was a goal of mine to do the install myself. After having completed the job over several nights after work and having no idea what was involved, it was tougher than I expected. I'm handy in the shop and have worked on Mustangs all through college but never tried or really seen a turbo kit. My immediate thought during the process was that if I lived close by GTM or Forged, I'd have paid. I'm hell and gone from both and don't have a shop I trust as much as myself.

It's been about a month since I finished and I feel totally sure I could do it over a weekend now. I would gladly help a fellow board member who lived close by. Several tools were acquired along the way which made things much easier and the support from the people at GTM was without limits. I know Sam was sick of hearing my name over the page but he never let on.

The single biggest surprise was that I could shelf all my power tools for this job. Never touched one from start to finish. Bought a good set of Flex-head gear wrenches and I wouldn't do this job again without them.

If it something you want to prove to yourself you can do, then do it and you won't regret it. There are horror stories about turbo kits and missing parts, poor fitment, etc. This is NOT one of them. GTM deserves their reputation. I'm sure it is best to have them install it and return to you a care free car but they did such a good job designing and producing the kit that an everyday joe can install it him (or her) self and end up feeling pretty good.

Wow man props to you and I bet that is a very good feeling for yourself. So how much did you pay for the kit since you saved on install?

How did you tune? I have no worries about the install. It's the tuning afterward that throws me for a loop.
