Everyone,

You may want to look into the following thread:

Interesting information including responses and input from an INfiniti master tech.

I just took my car in today at my local Infiniti dealership to handle the rough downshift between 4th and 3rd gear. Took the same information provided at: http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=550499 and advised that they have not heard of this, however the TSB was able to help. Received a call 3 hours later and on my receipt its states the following:

Performed Bulletin 09-032 Reprogrammed TCM

Replace old part #31039-1XJ4A new part #31039-3RX0C

I drove my car back to work and the rough downshift is no longer there. BIG DIFFERENCE, anyone that's experiencing this issue, i recommend that you get this done asap. Thanks for the Great info all!

When the technician performs a reprogramming of a module, like the TCM in this case, the procedure requires that once he's connected to the module it will display the current configuration including the firmware which is listed as a part number. That part number would be the existing F/W and will be listed in the TSB to validate that the new F/W is applicable, and the new part number refers to the new F/W.

Thanks brynomon, my G37S coupe is at the service center as I write this getting the update. The service advisor told me that people had complained about the downshift, but he was unaware of the fix until I showed him the document you provided. I'll let you know how my car drives when I get it back later this afternoon.

Talking

I just got my Journey sedan (non-sport) back after they updated the settings. It drives so much better! I took it to Sewell Infiniti in Houston (pka North Houston Infiniti). They didn't seem to know about the TSB until I told them about it, so thanks Brynomon!!

P.S. I called the service department manager twice over two days at West Houston Infiniti (where I bought my car), and I never received a return call. A bit disappointing.

@HoustonG37: I am glad you enjoy your ride even more after the update. I am also from Houston and have scheduled with Southwest Infiniti to do the update on July 13. I've given West Infiniti so many chances (from sales to service) but they've always let me down.

Anyway, I can't wait for the update. Thanks a lot for the great info guys!

I got my update done today at Infinit of Baton Rouge. Great service department. I'm happy with the update as the car coasts much more smoothly.

Infiniti of Charlotte did mine on July 3. Invoice states:

"Preformed reprog. Old TCM# 31039-1XJ4A to new TCM# 31039-3RX0C. Verified repair on test drive."

Shifting smooth as silk now (up and down).
