Betty's Garage Grounding Kit -- 5AT G37

Review – Betty’s Garage – 5 Wire Grounding Kit – 5AT

Sorry for just getting this up, but I wanted to give some time to really get a feel and try a few scenarios before putting my review up. Overall, I’m quite pleased with my purchase of the kit. Before getting into my detailed, review Black Betty does a great job with these kits. The wires of are quality wires, well constructed with proper connection terminals, and the Techflex used to cover them is great. Not only does it look great, but protects the wires as well from the engine heat.

I would recommend this kit all 5AT owners.

(Rating Scale 1-10 where 1 is the lowest and 10 is the best)

Overall Impression -- 9 of 10

Quality of Kit (10/10)
As already mentioned, the kit is of utmost quality. The wires are thick and sturdy, appropriate terminal connectors are used, and the best part… They are wrapped in TechFlex to protect the wires and also give them an great look in the engine bay. I got the CF version.

Install (9/10)
The installation of these wires was pretty easy. MaxtotheG37 and I installed these on my car and if we had not been taking a ton of pics during the install, my guess is that it would have taken about 30 minutes. Black Betty provided excellent pictures and clear instructions in his thread as a guide for my install. This helped. Only basic tools like ratchets, sockets, screw driver, etc are needed. We only encountered one hold-up with the TB wires as the terminal connector was very tight on the bolt. A quick bend with a screw driver and we moved right along.

Results (8/10)
Immediately after installed, I started the car. It could have been me, but it felt like a quicker and smoother start. As it was late after doing the install, I did not get to drive it until the next morning. Now this install was on my 5AT. I did notice an improvement in shifting during regular drive mode. The shifts were quicker and smoother. Not by much (then again, it’s not like the shifts were irregular) but I could tell an improvement. Next scenario was Drive Sport… Again, I could feel an improvement in the shifts…quicker and smoother. Excellent results as I use these a lot. The last scenario (the one I really wanted to play with) was manual mode. Unfortunately, I did not see much of an improvement here. It’s likely because there is much more involved with this drive type than just a shift.

Now for some pics:

Nice review. I've been really wanting to get these for a while, just havent had the time or funds to do so. BJ, you said you may have noticed quicker start up. I was wondering, my car has almost been having trouble starting lately, especially if it sits for a few days. Had everything check out by the dealer twice now and they say everything is fine. Do you thing a grounding kit might help this?

Thanks. The quicker startup may have been my head so I don't want to give any false information and someone be dissappointed if they don't get the same impression. In terms of your issue, I'd continue to monitor and keep escalating the issue to your dealer.

The kit may help, but it depends if you really have another underlying problem. Regardless, I'd recommend the kit.

Thanks for the review Blackjack.

SOLISMO, I only sell the v2.0 now. All kits shipped will be like this one. Upgrades of the first kits are available to those who bought it before the TB upgrade but not as a stand alone.

If there are TB response gains, there weren't easily noticable.

I'm super happy with the kit though.

I noticed the difference when upshifting in 1st gear at redline. I used to have to time my shift earlier to avoid bouncing off the rev limiter. I now am able to wait a little longer and it shifts quick enough that you don't get as much delay off the rev limiter.
