About to do an Oil Change need info first!

Sup fellas, Im about to touch 7000K In my G and im getting ready to take it for a oil change since the oil is getting pretty black, But i just want to make sure i get the right stuff -

So im looking for the right brand of oil to use, how many quarts or bottles of oil should i put into the engine and Would a K&N Oil, Nissan Oil filter, or a G-Reddy filter be good?

5w-30 is the oil you should use also right? (just making sure)

btw im looking to buy the oils and filters off the internet, so post some sites that sell these things, if you know.

Just say No to Jiffy

Where are you "taking it". If you are going to the dealer they will use the right oil and quality. If you are planning to go to Jiffy or EQ then plan to Fail. Why not DIY. I am using Castrol Syntec Blend for now. I may go full syn soon.
5.1 quarts 5w30

Does anybody have more insight into this "Infiniti synthetic oil" which has been talked about here as well as over in g35nyc? http://g35nyc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12717

7,000 is my 2nd oil change ever since i owned it, i dont wait till the manual says to change it at that certain point, once it starts to get black, thats when i change it.

fkat - infiniti is just looking to make more money by doing that. thats why i dont bother going there.

carefull on that. The car does not come with syn oil from factory.

I did my first oil change at 900 miles. Was gonna wait till break-in was over, but oh well. Then after that i did it 3750 miles and continue to do it every 3750.

If you live in a metropolitan area and do some stop and go, you should def consider doing it ever 3-4k miles. If you care about the longeivty of your engine then change it often... if you really want to know exactly how long you can go between changes, send a sample of your used oil to Blackstone Labs... that will give you some concrete numbers specific to your car only.

Always check the owner's manual. That's what I recall but check the manual. You can get a pdf manual online.

Where are you located. come by my house and I will change your oil for you for cost + 10 bucks.

infiniti actually put out a tsb saying they recommend using genuine nissan ester engine oil in the g37 / fx50

i'd follow the tsb just in case these motors end up having an oil burning problem like some of the older motors. i saw a few cases where infiniti tried to blame it on using the wrong oil or filter, blah blah and not warranty it

Well I called my local infiniti dealer and spoke with a service tech and he told me that my car does in fact have synthetic oil but he also stated that 7500 miles is to long here in texas and that he would recommend 5k oil change.

what??? bmw said to do oil changes on my e46 every 15k miles but I did it every 10k and with 110k miles, 10 years later I never had engine issues. I'm pretty sure 7500 miles on the g is fine, that's what i'll be doing. I can't handle oil changes every 3k miles and I'm not about to take it anywhere for oil changes because I don't trust them.

We should try to get a group buy on K&N oil filters. If everyone ordered 10 maybe we could get a better price, but then again maybe there are only a few of us that don't trust anyone to do their oil changes. A friend of mine lost an engine do to some yoohoo at an oil change place years ago. So I've never considered not doing it myself.

Do you have the number of this TSB? I can't find such a TSB in the bulletins released by Infiniti. Also, do you have the part number for this oil? I can't find it in the parts fiche.

Why? Even though the factory says every 3,750 miles, what do you know about this engine that the factory doesn't?
