Where's the power? do you all have this problem...
So i had to take in my G this weekend because the main seal of the tranny broke and was leaking...which is beside the point of my story here. I got to drive an 07+ G35 sedan and was floored by how easy it lit up the tires. It seemed like it had oodles more power than what I would have hoped was the faster style, my coupe....
I got my coupe back and decided to really push it off the line... no tire chirping... vdc off...still no tire chirping. ok ok, i realize that wheel spin means LESS power, but how is it that I cant even burn out or chirp my tires from a stop?
Which leads me to think, and hope... that something is wrong. Please let me know if you guys get wheel spin off the line, full throtle... This is of course for "off road" research only....

This mostly has to do with tire size. 245/40-19 for the G37 vs. 225/55-17 for the G35 sedan. Not only are the tires skinnier on the sedan, they are smaller wheels requiring much less power to break loose.
You must have auto too. Cause i can light mine up real good.
It is a bit suprising that you cant break loose at all from a stand still. You should take a poll for all the auto's to see who can/can't.

Ya but he has the brake on at the same time. Not a good video for what he is asking. I don't have a AT so someone else hopefully can answer your question. I would imagine that if you slam on the gas with no VDC then you should be able to chirp the tires a little. Remember that the TQ is not the highest on our cars so you won't be able to just step on the gas and do an easy burnout.

Are you being aggresive enough with it? Give it more gas and slip the clutch a lot faster. It will take a lot of revs to get these tires to spin in a burnout. Launching is different. You have to find that sweet spot. Start at 3000 and practice different techniques such as what amount of gas and clutch to give.

Keep in mind that the Sedans torque converter has a slightly higher stall speed with a much more dramatic engagement (almost an on/off effect)
The G37s is slightly lower and engages more gradually.
With that said I can still light up my tires under most conditions.
When it is hot outside it is more difficult to do. The G37 has much stickier rubber than most of the Sedan loaners.
