Car Won't Start - Anyone Experience This???
Side issue. They gave me an "08 G35 sedan" as a loaner. This car's throttle response is so much quicker then on my G37. WTF? The car "feels" quicker then mine. It just feels quicker to down shift (in sport or auto mode) and screams into the next gear. It has 20k vs. my 4700 miles. Any ideas?
Service Dept. called and said diagnostics found many codes relating to "electircal". They cleared the ECU and are going to keep it for a few days, drive it around with pc attached and see if they can replicate problem. Told me the car is running fine. I'm leaning towards the water where it didn't belong theory at this point.

I got a loaner G35 once too when installing LoJack on my G37S! And that car is quick off the mark.....BUT...When you really rev the VQ37 past 4500rpm time travel may be possible! I've redlined this puppy a couple of times and it's got the punch and it's more predictable than any other car I've driven. It's no Ferrari but it's great!
ON TOPIC: I too had an incident when my engine almost stalled at a traffic light after a touch-free car wash...I've had funny idling sometimes when the car stalls and I restart the engine.
I thought I was the only one that had seen this. Same thing exactly and went away on its own after about 4 miles when the thing rebooted.
Picked the car up @ dealership a few hours ago. Service mgr. showed me the TWO pages of codes that were diagnosed. Stated all codes were logged as "historical" and there were no issues when they received the car. Also stated that the codes were so sporatic that they couldn't really focus on any one area (except to change every computer on the car). Said the car has been running fine since they received it. If it happens again they said they'd p/u at my home and deliver loaner (can't ask for more). I did not want them to wash it so they didn't try to replicate the problem with water.

As for the G35 being quicker: It was explained that the torque curve is higher but more gradual on the G37. The power in the G37 "swells" where as in the G35 it's more immediate but short lived. I read about the "power swelling" in Autombile Magazine. Anyway, realy got on it on the way home and the '37 IS much faster. It just doesn't feel so quick under normal driving conditions, but every time I got on the accelerator, WOW. So that was my bad. Thanks to everyone that offered suggestions and advice!

No pun intended but not a bad idea ! There's something that seems to hold water somewhere inside the engine bay that causes alot of mist to right up from under the hood during washes. Happens to me all the time. Has anyone else experienced this?
I've washed the car twice since I got it back (OCD)...no problem. SHABBO, I always lift the hood when I dry the car and I've not noticed any mist. But I hand wash my car. So far, no problems!

i remember reading something in the forum about the 35 being quicker off the line than the 37...the explanation was because of its drive by wire system that is really touchy on the throttle....ill try to find the thread...

It is like steam rising from the front grill ! And I think that's also how sometimes the steam gets into the intake because it draws in air from the the upper sides around the fan shroud.
I'm going to hand wash it myself from now on. All the car washes in my neighbourhood are pretty rough and expensive. I live in Menlo Park and all the Porsche and Bentley owners care less about such things.
btw... how's your Fujita intake performing? Does the Fujita Filter element actually have ram-style inlets? I like the Fujita intake...Though I think I would insulate the intake tube in urethane foam...Since they are running along side the engine and the aluminum intake will sink heat.
The air boxes in our cars are in themselves pretty sealed....
I wash my engine bay every 3rd or 4th wash and then CD2 it for prettiness.
I have sprayed water directly on the engine (only when its cold, of course) and all over the engine bay and never have had a problem. I do put a plastic bag over each intake just to be safe however.....
