Services/Maintenance

At what Mileage or Time do you guys take your car in for services/maintenance? I've had my car for about 5 months now, 7500 miles and all I've done are 2 oil changes. Is my G due for a tire rotation, alignment, etc, any time soon? What do you guys recommend?

I hear the new Navi update is out, or should be out, will the dealer upgrade yours for free?

Its recommended to get your tires rotated at the second service, so that's probably a good idea. You can get a free alignment from Infiniti so you should take advantage of that. Any longer and there will be no point in having your car aligned until you get new tires, and then the alignment will not be free (1yr, 12,000 miles)

First Service - 3,750 Just an Oil Change

Second Service - 7,500 Oil change, tire rotation, inspection of brakes, fluids etc.

Pretty much continues like that until 15/30,000 miles. I can't find my service manual right now (go figure) but I'll post up the details later once I do..

i just had a motul oil change with full inspection at west covina nissan...sure i live in woodland hills, but they are the only place that you get to stand by your car as they work on it. plus it's only $50 for forum members....other infiniti places around my area charge $70-$100 for mobil 1 synthetic....lol.

i'm really not buying into the whole "waiting for a few thousand miles for the rings to seat before synthetic oil"...nowadays after the break in period the rings have already settled.

never had a problem with my 00 celica (sold at 76K) and 03 350z (sold at 54k)....they both ran very strong, especially my Z which i really beat on every chance i got.

I agree with that but I don't recommend synthetic, its not necessary so therefore I say forget it. To each his own, and that is how all these discussions end-up so do what YOU 'think' is best.

oh...in that case, then yes i agree with you...synthetic 99% of the time is overkill.

Two things: Synthetic is much better for the environment and reduces our reliance upon foreign oil: which is ultimately better for the US ;-) (No - I'm not a granola eating, Marin/SF CA living, greatful dead worshipper - just stating facts). Also, it's great for people that don't do regular oil changes because it tends not to breakdown as quickly.

My dealer uses a blend, so I get a bit of both worlds.
