E85 tune
E85 tune
I was wondering if anyone knows where I should go to get my car tuned for E85 in the LB/LA/OC AREA. People say eclass tunez but I'm not sure if I should go with them before someone else gives me a different recommendation.
Eugene Turkov @ Enthusiast Autocare. He does both dyno tunes and log based e-tunes. I've been on his tune since 2018 and the car still runs better than when I first got it on gasoline. Also dyno'd at 318 whp.
You can’t go wrong with either.
Nice, which car and mods do you have to hit that 318? I also got a log based tune from Eugene, but have not gotten the car on a dyno yet.
Same here, remote tune by Eugene. But just 93 octane... I don't have an E85 build.

What would you say about the 'gunk' buildup from running E85?

The primary mod to make this work is installation of the OEM GT-R injectors. Other than that, I just have plain breather mods. Takeda CAI, Motordyne M370, Tanabe Axleback
However, in the future we may replace the OEM fuel pump with an AEM 340lph fuel pump to keep the pressure up since we've noticed that there's occasional fuel pressure loss during extended WOT pulls such as in 3rd gear, either due to my car being old at 170k miles and/or E85 just requiring significantly more fuel and the OEM fuel pump cant always keep up during extended WOT.

As for gunk build up, I run a full tank of 91 Chevron w/ Techron around once a month to allow it to theoretically clean off any gunk. Don't have any scientific proof that this works, as we havent removed an injector to check. But we did check the top of the pistons from the spark plug hole and they looked much cleaner/shinier than a regular gasoline cars, especially at 170k miles. (I've been on E85 for almost 3 years 40k miles at this point)

Who are you tuned by?
That's funny because Eugene discouraged me from pursuing an e85 build. I think he was reading the room, and probably correctly too, LOL.
What I mean by that is he picked up on which approach would be best for me, based on my expectations for the tune and my history with the car. And it wasn't presumptive, IMO. I think it was well intentioned customer service.

Based on what I've read online, E85 generally not recommended for NA cars.
BUT if you live in California, where 91 octane is the highest octane gas readily available, then E85 can give some boost in power with some good tuning.

Bingo. In CA as well and 91 is the reason Eugene recommended going with E85 for me.
