Performance Tune for 6MT
Performance Tune for 6MT
Does anyone have actual experience with tuning the 6MT for better performance?
1- What were results in terms of HP/Torque, fuel efficiency and impacts on emissions?
2- Any recommendations on types of tune and who made them for you?
Thx

I had noticed some companies advertise tuning to improve performance. As an example, pls see http://www.jtuneperformance.com/category/infiniti-g37/.
I want to learn about this, and would appreciate anyone that tried doing this share their experiences.
Thx for your reply. This is to add more clarity.

(i can't tell if you're credible or just +1 post count lol)
The tune would adjust timing, ignition, fuel trims etc making the car faster, yes. Ok for example, my g37 made 278 whp on the dyno without a uprev tune. After the tuner tuned my car it made 312 whp. So yes it got faster. But that does not in turn make a manual transmission itself faster. On the auto they improve shift time so the car slams into the next gear saving time between gear shifts. Idk maybe I am missing something here?

Perfect. Yeah I don't think he actually meant the transmission.. Just was calling his G a 6MT. (because that's the only thing that makes sense haha)
As stated, there's no tuning of a manual transmission. There are no electronics involved. Only some gears and a clutch and a shift lever that's completely controlled by the user. What is there to tune?
My goal is to explore options that improves engine performance and still pass emissions inspections, while holding up fuel economy as best as possible.
Look forward to learn from you.
Yes get some mods you want. Then get an uprev tune or ECUtek if you have a 2009+ g37.
You can get various mods such as intake and exhaust and then get the ECU tuned via software like ECUtek or Uprev. Personally I'm a big fan of suspension mods. The best power mods available for this car (short of forced induction) yield only modest power gains. Good suspension upgrades make the car drive better and if you are tracking it you'll get faster lap times from improving the suspension and tires than by the few useable HP you'll get from bolt ons and a tune.
Good luck.
Good luck.
