What to expect from Osiris UpRev

Not sure if anyone has much experience on the matter - doesn't seem like many myg37 members have tuned, yet. Looking for some input though on exactly what I can expect power wise, after my tune. I'm mainly doing it to fix my afr after all my breather mods (sig). Despite, one thing I do HATE: my car just doesn't seem to excel on lower gear, higher rpm'd "spirited runs" (by my lonesome ) lol. I know the throttle flaps will remain open after the tune, but a little anxious to see if...well, whether or not I'm being too optimistic. You guys think 320 whp / 280 wtq is too optimistic? Car seems to hit a brick wall once the rpms get closer to redline.

Thanks for your input,
Eric

Edit: Okay, maybe not a brick wall...but torque's all gone (blaming those darn throttle flaps <--wrong?)

My guess is you will gain 5-12 HP over your current numbers. I can't really comment on the final numbers because there are way too many factors and all dynos are different.

I gained 6-8 HP with a tune (with just the Invidia exhaust and K&N drop-ins). HFC will be the big gainer, so who knows. 320 seems a little optimistic, but it all depends on the dyno. My car did in the mid-280's on a dynojet, and around 270 on a Mustang dyno (both after the tune).

Good luck. Post a dyno when you are done.

Both dynos I was on read pretty low, so you never know. The cars that I have seen make 320-330+ numbers are usually on dynos that read really high. A stock car on a dynojet should be in the 280-290 range. A stock car on a Mustang dyno should be in the 260-270 range. There are obviously several other types of dynos, but the Dynojet and Mustang are the most common, and the hardest to manipulate (although all dynos can be in some way).

In order to really put down 320 WHP, your car would have to make around 380 BHP (at the engine with the common 15% drivetrain loss-- which I don't think is fully accurate, but that is another story for another day). It is just really hard to get these motors to truly put out 50 HP over stock. I won't say it is impossible, but really hard to believe. If someone puts down 320-330 WHP, I think it is more a product of the dyno and not necessarily the parts. Other than test pipes and some HFC, these motors just don't respond all that great to bolt-on mods. I don't think that is a knock on the parts or the motor, but just the state of tune from the factory (and that goes for most cars these days).

Here's the gains I got on a 35HR on a Mustang dyno. You can feel the gains but I too did it mainly for the AFR.

Those are good numbers on a Mustang dyno for a VQ35HR.... By comparison, here is my first Mustang dyno with my stock G37, and then a tune. It is a little hard to see, but I went from 256HP-->262HP, and 222TQ-->227TQ. I later added the Invidia exhaust, K&N drop-ins, and re-tuned to around 272HP/234TQ (albeit a year later, and I can't find the dyno graph). I found my latest Dynojet dyno, and I did around 285HP/240TQ (although my car was in need of an oil change, and did not seem to be running great that day).

Not to turn this into a "which dyno is best" thread, but you WON'T see 320 WHP from a tune especially with the small small list of mods you have. Simply won't happen.

The amount of gain is 99% dependent on the actual tuner. So if you're taking it to someone good, I'd say 10-12 WHP is the absolute best you'll see.

^ good to know, good to know. i knew 320 whp was too optimistic oh wells...as i mentioned, it's mainly for the purpose of fixing the afr. considering i wasn't planning to go fi, i guess the tune's the end of the road for me (na performance build wise). when i was in the honda scene (2005 acura tl), the g/z series seemed like SUCH a big step up performance wise. figured it'd do me enough for the time being. hm....lol

thanks for the info guys! greatly, greatly appreciated.

total bummer...lol

No need to be disappointed. Your car should be as fast as any N/A G37 with the mods you have. The 4.08 gears are a big step up in performance and probably do more for your car than anything. That combined with the HFC and tune are as good as it gets. I think the ART test pipes and maybe a different exhaust would be the only chance for any gains at this point. Forget about the dyno numbers; dynos are a tuning tool (that's all). Just enjoy what should be a great car to drive. Anyone using dynos numbers to make themselves feel better about their car is fooling themselves or very misguided (hmmm..... business idea-- get a dyno that reads really high and take advantage of inflated egos).

Edit: I see you already have FI test pipes (I assumed HFC, but I just saw one of your other posts).

Hi eksigned,

In your signature you have 4.083. What is this please? Could you also please explain what your other mods are please? Fast Intentions, AK-X, GT-Spec, Invidia; Thanks!
Is an underdive pulley such as UR available or recommended for a G37xS coupe? How about a throttle amp?
